Another round of Cargo. This is getting old. Is she evey going to grow up or is she always going to be a drunk juvenile. The amount of tax money she has abused over the years now increases. Victim again. Remember the little boy who cried wolf Cargo? Thank God Cargo now has no say in the Oak Creek Police Department and they are NOT AFRAID to to their job! Let's see how many officers has she already gone through?? I thought we were finally done with Cargo and only had to deal with a drunk sheriff for a few more years. Cargo made Oak Creek a joke and now it's starting to become professional again. Wall has made the S.O. a joke that we still have to deal with. Cargo cries woes and woes of no money and being the victim but she can always "pony up" the money the create a scene or threaten to sue to government again. Cargo, get a life and not a criminal life. GIve us all a break, we a tired of you, your drama(s) your ridiculous statements and accusations against actual trained professionals. Thanks to the CSP for providing back up to the OCPD. I am surprised Wall would allow his officers to go as I am sure Cargo's first call was to him, then her lawyer and then 911 after being told what to say. Trust, truth and Cargo...not three words that usually go together.

The CSP is very professional, I am hoping they don't also reap the benefits of Wall's decision to drive drunk. Was he in a county vehicle and was the sober driver a county employee driving a county vehicle or was someone else driving a county vehicle? If it was not county emplyee how could it have been insured. Wall is a joke, we've known it from the start, we voted him in and now we need to vote him out. He is totally destroying the reputation of the Sheriff['s Office, Deputy Sheriff's and now statewide law enforcement in general in Routt County. How many more things does he have to do for everyone to get the point, does he have to drive drunk and kill someone? Let's face it he has held up the bar at the Old Town Pub for years, maybe that's why he wanted his office in the court house so it was just walk across the street, at least he wouldn't be driving. So we have an undersheriff who likes to drink with his badge and gun, wrecks a county owned vehicle in another state, a Sheriff who has shown lack of support for the youth and elderly, take himelf above the law and county policies and now drives drunk...wow impressive.

Scott, Your are correct when feeling that the participation would drop without anonymity. The commuity is small and I think most people would feel that they would be placing them selves at risk for some type of retribution.

We are smart enough to judge the credible comments from the, let's say "zaney", mis-informed and just out right "mean" comments from some. Blogs are a great way to communicate and as with all types of communication among people there will always be hateful and mean people who just want to complain and offer no reasonable solutions...watch CNN. But at least here we can do it!!! I don't agree with many of the things written in blogs, but if I respond, I don't have to get ugly and mean! (I did that in Middle School!!) Keep it they way it is because communication on any level is better than no communication at all. By the way I have been having a great time listening to you on the radio!!! We get to read your words but is is also great to hear your words!!! good job!!

P.S. could we get spell check on this?

stunnedindaboat 5 years, 10 months ago on Given the site challenges, is the Balloon Rodeo something that should continue in Steamboat?

I have lived here for 46 years (born here). The Ballon Rodeo has always ben a great family event we enjoy every year. I think the airport is a good idea as well. If you don't like it, don't go to it, deal with it or move. I remember when the "new Safeway" was being built at highway 40 and Pine Grove Road, nothing but comlaints, same with Central Park Plaza.....growth will continue and has to continue as long as people keep moving here for "what Steamboat is today".

Look at recent history, Wall screened and advised the City of Oak Creek who to hire as Police Officers. What happened to those officers selected by Wall? They left their jobs as fast as the current Sheriff's staff has been departing. Let's leave Cargo out of it, she left the City of Oak Creek as well. That's history, history we all should look at. Now not Just Oak Creek but all of Routt County will have to deal with his decisions. One word says so much..pompus. I like the term "Wall of Shame" We need and deserve to see his budget, he's spending OUR money not his. Fish, JQ is not the only one who is not happy, MANY MANY people are not happy. We screwed up on election day. We were actually thought Wall would keep his word and promises and be good for the county. We were wrong. Now is the time to correct our error before the Sheriff's Office crumbles all together. DARE was old, but it was something we had to work with our children until a newer program came out and it kept communication between police and children happening. The open communication between youth and police is (was) a good thing. Communication...hmmm County Commissioners, media calls....not returned by the Sheriff who once wanted a downtown office so he could be closer to the citizens. We screwed up, now let's fix our mistake.

I like the idea of seeing the Sheriff's budget. The employee turn over has been huge and hiring and training a new staff is expensive. Maybe it be worth it to try and retain good, solid and experience officers. Wall just doesn't get it, we aren't Vail in the 70's. Does he or the Undersheriff carry weapons?

I found a nice sofa in Steamboat, could I get the Undersheriff's truck to take it home for me? I think I am already paying the gas and insurance on it..and it actually is in OUR town and OUR county within OUR STATE. It doesn't look like a moose but it is still very nice!

There's more to being a Sheriff and Underseriff than new TV's and furniture.....sorry I forgot the '70s were all aboout that kind of stuff. Do they make a moose shaped jail cot?

The Sheriff and Undersheriff are a joke. A bad joke and a sad joke. Can we survive another 3 1/2 years?? Can we survive another 6 1/2 months? If this continues I am afraid that the community will look upon everyone at the Sheriff's Office as a joke. That is the sad part because many (most have left) officers are professionals, ETHICAL, hard working and dedicated to their job...did I mention ETHICAL? As a parent I will do all I can to make sure the King's "term in office" ends at the end of the four years if not sooner. Is this the kind of person we want to trust the lives and future of our children with? It's too late for the seniors in Routt County according to Sheriff Wall (I have to wince everytime I say Sheriff Wall) these are the ones who lived here, raised their family and gave everything they had to the County for decades..not worth the money according to (sorry have to say it again) Sheriff Wall. But making sure the Undersheriff makes a huge check, make us pay for all the charges, takes our..yes OUR property out of the county, out of the state, wreck it and we pay for it IS worth the money. Anything wrong with that picture? We own the vehicles, King Gary does not. We elected him, now lets UNELECT him before it is to late. This guy is nuts. Maybe it's time for a moose drive instead of a cattle drive! SUFOS SAVE US FROM OUR SHERIFF! We deserve so much more, we're not Vail in the 70's.
