Regardless of what you think of Wall, you guys are all pretty quick to decide which deputy was telling the truth. Just maybe Lance isn't so noble and was getting in a last jab before flying the coop. His actions to cut and run may actually remove any credibility from his testimony. Yes, the plot does thicken.
justathought ... you are right, what factsfirst might have said is, "Sieverding, off your meds again?"
So, all the new cabinetry and rehab work now going on at the Iron Horse is money well spent?
If the developers who have included affordable housing in their projects can't get enough takers who qualify, why is the City in that business? When realtors finally realize that their overpriced inventory isn't selling (and they have no income), we may have plenty of lower priced housing available. Funny how things come full circle, eh?
Yes, it is a hardship living in Steamboat, but then, you could live in KANSAS!
City employee "morale has never been higher?" Maybe it appears so when the top mangager comes in like a buzz saw and fires anyone who might not fit his management style or reorganizes so those strong enough to voice an opinion end up in the coat closet down the hall. Maybe the rest are afraid for their jobs. Running any organization with blunt force is not leadership. While it may yield short term quantifiable results, it usually results in chasing away good people who might otherwise make a valuable contribution.
I am a cyclist and ride the roads, but I ride to stay alive. When I see bike riders two or three abreast, I shudder to think how their belligerent behavior may be inciting vehicle drivers and how I could be those drivers' next target. Just last week I watched a mountain bike rider turn left into traffic coming towards him on Lincoln at Old Fish Creek Falls Road by the hot springs pool ... he danced his bike between the two oncoming lanes full of streaming traffic until a nervous driver stopped to let him cross to head up Old Fish Creek, jamming traffic up the hill. Crazy behavior by that biker pissed off at least the 40 drivers that witnessed it for sure. But then, I've been held up on my bike by Winter Sports Club ski skaters who filled up the road like they were entitled to it. Everyone needs to think about staying alive for the next day of exercise!
Hey condoguy, personal responsibility goes way beyond the owner of a rental. I've had as many as 700 rental units to care for, and even when residents sign acknowledgement that they are responsible for keeping batteries replaced, they take them out for Christmas toys, take them out because they go off when they burn something on the stove, take them out because they chirp when low on energy, or even rip the detectors themselves off the ceiling. Should all landlords be responsible for giving everyone a fire extinguisher or for giving them a life safety lecture weekly? We are so often quick to blame someone else and avoid the touchy issue of personal responsiblity particularly when a tragedy has occured. Certainly landlords should follow the law, but individuals need to exercise common sense as well.
Whether you agree with letting Mr. Knezevich go or not, why do we tolerate the despicable behavior of DeVincentis? He is the common denominator to this clown act we call a school board. Feel like voting to continue taxing yourself to their benefit in November? Me neither. And don't give me that lame argument that we will hurt the kids and teachers by not continuing the sales tax. Look at your property tax bill. Yep, you are already contributing heavily to local schools, but your school board is squandering your money with poor management decisions and internal bickering.
We went to the mountain last week and entered the path off of Apres Ski Way under the temporary arches to get to the gondola base. We had to walk through 100 feet of muck and mud to get to the gondola around the One Steamboat Place construction site. If you want people to spend money up there, then clean up your act!
Informed that her husband had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital, she chose to finish the race? Sounds like maybe something else may have been finished before this race even started.
