Happy news that the little boy apparently suffered no permanent injuries.
Serious bad, bad news that parents would allow a 2-year-old near rapidly moving cold water withOUT proper supervision. Hope the little guy survives his childhood with that kind of parenting.
Leeches in the Yampa River?? Never heard of such a thing - isn't it too cold for leeches?

Joanne: What a GREAT column - laughed 'til my sides hurt. Comparing middle school students (or only girls?) to "processionary caterpillars" was BRILLIANT :-)
You should have told your mother that middle school is NEVER over - those reactions follow you throughout the whole rest of your life :-((
Wonderful article/book review, Tom!
Where can we purchase the book? Here, locally? On Amazon?? Elsewhere???
AMEN... Right on Mr. Bird. Hope the School Board hears you LOUD and CLEAR!
On page 10 of today's (Wed., June 22) newspaper, there is an advertisement for "2011 July 4th Fireworks Show...Sunday, July 4th..."
There is NO Sunday, July 4, 2011!!!!
The Fireworks Show might be either on SUNDAY, July 3rd
or maybe on MONDAY, July 4th
PLEASE UPDATE THIS OUT DATED CHART FOR THE NEXT 7 DAYS - NOT THE PASSED. THANX...
Luke: Regarding your golf tournaments article, "The format is a shamble..." What is the world is a "golf SHAMBLE?"
Great idea, Brent. Hope many in the community take advantage of it.
GREAT article, Tom. Good advice PLUS chuckles. Thanx.
