For the family of Bob, in order to contact anyone on this forum, just click on their name. This will bring up a way to e-mail them. My wife & I just returned from Bob's "memorial" at the Elks Tavern. You will be happy to know that the place was packed! God bless you all. It's nice to know that Bob has a place to go to be with his family.
I just hope the citizens of Oak Creek show up tonight. There are some very serious and interesting things that will come up. I hope the Sheriff and a County Commissioner or two show up too!

Gary, This all sounds great, but how about a local reference system? As to me earlier post, how do we separate the good from the bad if even the BBB won't do it? Obviously, the contractor should be given a "response" option, but I have many contractors I would recommend, and only a very few I would not. Unfortunatly, the ones I would not got THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars for my project, and I got, well ulcers!
Gary, great statement for those of us who believe that there are 2 ways to do things. 1) do it right. 2) don't do it. One very big problem I see is that in the near past, the trades were so swamped with work, poor quailty was the norm and tolerated. Even the Better Business Bureau fosters shoddy contractors. I worked with two companies owned by the same person. By the time it was over, he had to be sued. Both for quality and making a 4 month job take over 1 year. I tried to file a complaint with the BBB to warn others of his tendencies. Since the contract(s) had gone into litigation, I could not file a complaint. His add to this day reads " Better Business Bureau A+ Rated". I know of at least 4 other home owners who had very similar experiences. Unfortunatly they did nothing to warn others. Who then is at fault?
The biggest problem I see with this and many other stories, especially the "jail report", is that people are named long before innocence or guilt is determined. XXX was booked into the Routt Co. Jail for xxx. There is hardly ever any other mention of the incident. Guilty or innocent, or not guilty is not usually disclosed. For those who are found not guilty or innocent, the damage has already been done. Their friends, neighbors, aquaintences, and potential customers have already made up his / her mind. Usually for the negative. Just my humble opinion and honest concern for those whom are, in the end "wrongly accused".
Hi Max! As a trustee for the town of Oak Creek, we would welcome your input in the proper forum. As far as businesses in town, please join in on the discussions and development of the Compresensive plan currently being developed at Planning meetings. As to being elected, I would highly suggest that you attend Town Board meetings, get involved in the day to day, month to month, and year to year planning and decission making that goes on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm at Town Hall. Looking forward to seeing you at any of these meetings!
I have been in personell management most of my career life. I found the best way to manage was to "lead by example". Never ask anyone to do what you would not be willing to do yourself. I had tremendous success and respect from those whom I considered co-workers. I would urge all elected officials to take AT LEAST the same 10% cut that only they have the power to do for the employees of Routt County.
My biggest hope and request is that we can fill the forums with thoughtfull people. The goal of the focus group is to LISTEN to what the towns people of Oak Creek want. Another inportant item to read into the survey is that of the 50 / 50 split on Oak Creek law enforcement is the fact that 66% feel we should contract for additional coverage with the Sheriff's Dept. These are the type of dirrection we need from the people. We are here to Listen and respond within our budgetary confines. Call your neighbors! Speak your peace! While I am sure some parents are indeed just pushing the limits of paying on a timley basis, but withholding a hot lunch fron a child who id $6.00 in arrears on his / her lunch account is shamefull. (as reported on channel 7 tonight. Your city budget and school budgets are seperate, but the city chooses to give self supporting entities(ie: Strings on the Mountain) which is mostly frequented by the "well to do", and lease a cith owned building to another arts organization for $1.00, Why can't one of the most expensive cities to live in in the state of Colorado help out children who may really need the help? Just MHO. Even though I am on a very fixed income, if I heard of this happening in the South Routt School District, I would be writing a check to make sure our greatest national asset is fed properly!

Oak Creek split on police issues
Since Scott is the only one on this blog who will use his real name, how many of you were at last nights meeting?
I was, Scott was, it was a very interesting meeting and many concerns and suggestions came foreward.
The SAD part was that only +- 30 people attended.
