Charles Feldmann is just trying to use the media to further his case. He obviously believes his client is "less guilty" than the other woman because she stole less money. Therefore she's a good candidate to turn state's witness. He can't get her off at trial, the best he can do is get her a deal for less or even no jail. That's what he's doing and he's using every alternative. My guess is that Kerry won't return his phone calls so he has to use the newspaper. Kerry and Charles are less than best friends. Remember Charles had to quit as an assistant to Kerry rather than face prosecution for improper use of gov funds. No love lost between the two for sure.
telebikebird ... nice namecalling.
It will suck. And who gives a crap if a council person lives down there?
Or the newspaper doesn't know about it until the signs go up. It's going to suck big time because theyre going to start at 7 a.m. - screw the locals who have to get to work.
It may be, but the city still authorizes the road closure, which is my issue.
I understand they need to do work, but you know ... they could "work" with the rest of us who have to work by not starting until, say 9? Even if it adds days, it would be worth it. They are going to close the road at 7 a.m. for more than 2 months, are you KIDDING ME??? Do they even KNOW how backed up it can get on a normal day? The Village Drive intersection is going to suck because everyone who doesnt want to wait there is going to go up over the top and come down Walton.
HEY CITY - There are plenty of real locals who really go to work down Whistler Road, streets department. (I think maybe even a non-rich council-person, maybe they can help.) It's not all condos and second-homes down here.
LAME, city, LAME!!!!!!!
You mean a bailout like your Repulbican boys gave Bears Stearns???.
Congrats on Vandahl making second team all-state!
Offering a factually based, fair opinion is worlds away from what you did with the Knezevich piece. You made assumptions and created innuendos that supported your prefabricated premise that Mike was unprofessional.
There was much more wrong with your editorial than the line you admit was false. You also implied Knezevich was backing or was himself circulating a petition of support. Whether that was done intentionally or because of sloppy writing, it's still on you.
And why, exactly is it "unprofessional" for a leader to inform his staff of a serious situation involving his future? You're telling me that if you bosses gave you a choice to be fired or resign, you wouldn't gather your staff together to tell them the predicament? There is nothing unprofessional in that.
What was unprofessional was the way a small special interest group got in good with a temporary Superintendent with no loyalty and got her to try to push Mike out - at the same time she's heading out the door herself.
Good, strong leaders are always going rub some people wrong. But you don't fire a great principle like Mike because a minority has been whispering in Smyser's ear. It's absolutely ludicrous. You nurture and support someone like Mike who dedicates his whole life to that school and those kids.
And your half-cocked, half-informed inaccurate editorial only made things worse. You can try and stand on your high First Amendment pedestal and preach down to us about how important your opinion is and imply that we are simply not elevated enough to understand the role you play. But I can tell you with no uncertainty, that the column you wrote is nothing like the ideal you think you're upholding. It was inaccurate, misguided and destructive. You should be ashamed, not proudly boasting. What arrogance.
Noreen Moore and Tom Miller-Freutel -
What do you have to say about this? YOU wrote this vicious, baseless editorial too - as the "community representatives." We don't expect the Pilot people (editor, publisher, etc.) to answer these questions, but maybe you will. Why did you agree to such an attack?
On what facts did you base the statement that Mike made an "attempt last week to rally his staff to save his job" which you scolded him as "certainly ... unprofessional." ? What facts? Did someone inside tell you that, or did you make that assumption? Did you talk to more than one person to verify anything. Seriously damaging accusation you made.
Who told you that - "Knezevich then encouraged his teachers and staff to show up at the board meeting Monday to support him."?
Do you know how stupid you sound like saying things like this - "We don't know and therefore cannot comment on how Knezevich has performed as a principal." YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF PRINCIPAL HE WAS AND YET YOU CAN MAKE ACCUSATIONS LIKE THIS? Do you see the irony?
How about this doozy - "We have heard from numerous teachers expressing their discomfort with being confronted with a petition effort to back Knezevich. If they don't sign it, they risk the scorn of the principal and his supporters. Worse yet, their jobs could be at risk if they don't back their leader. The fear of retaliation is real and understandable. By his own actions, Knezevich has put his school's staff in an extremely awkward, no-win situation." YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE HE IS CIRCULATING THE PETITION. Is that true? Or did you just guess?
Or this one - "Of course, this is exactly what Knezevich wanted - to make his job status public and incite reaction from his allies." REALLY? Are you sure? Did you ask Mike if that's what he really wanted?
Or this one - "If he wants the community to believe the fate apparently assigned to him is unjust, then he should prove why we should stand in his defense."
HOW ABOUT YOU PROVE THE FACTS YOU RELIED ON FOR THIS ATTACK.
I think we should circulate a petition to remove this editor. What an unprofessional, baseless smear of a great community leader. Unlike those who wrote the column.
