To Yvb,sled neck and the other I've enjoyed sharing viewpoints with, thanks for your opinions. Too bad the paper is "firing" it biggest written resource.
I guess i have lived here too long, I simply don't understand " outsiders". Thompson, wants to buy in, but won't unless we have flowers downtown, so he wants to fund them. Love the sprit. All we need now is three more " outsiders " to demand we take their money to fund downtown flowers so they can move to town.
Tracy, get some sort of fundraising effort started before this guy gets off the line!
Great snow, BS. That's normal or average snow any other year. Plus, "great snow" on a piss poor base just brings the base up to a still below average for this time of year. If snowfall warrants a price change, why didn't the price go up last year when we set record every month? I hope they do bank some funds from this to pay for the fire suppression we will need this summer if the snow level stay so low.
Scottw, thank for the explanation of the air program. seems like we are paying the bulk of the tax but the guests get the better priced flights.
ScottW, does the airline subsidy reduce the cost of flights or simply provide funds to assure flights come here without booked customers?
I thought the airline program didn't provide funds to reduce costs, only to guarantee the airline money if they provided a route and none booked the flight. Am I incorrect, does the airline subsidy reduce the end user cost to fly into Hayden, or simply eliminate the risk the carriers take by offering a flight that someone may not book a seat onto, thus keeping routes into Hayden operating even if they are not profitable.
So the baskets are a Rotary fund raiser, they must be making something from this program, or it wouldn't be a very good fund raiser. If Downtown Steamboat were to eliminate the fund raising profit, and buy directly from a supplier, and request the businesses to water the plants in front of their establishments, this flower program could survive on far less. I would donate to such a program.
Who cares what trout's bona's are, or what the anti-bike forumites think. The community asked our elected officials to change a policy, and they listened. No one is debating if bigger chip is cheaper or lasts longer. We plainly told our county government to establish a policy that's more friendly toward cyclists. They did.
Any of the anti bikers on this form could have attended those meetings and expressed a counter viewpoint, and swayed the commish against the room full of cyclists, they chose not to attend. I must infer that therefore this issue isn't as important as flaming up this forum with anti bike rhetoric.
Thanks to the comminishers for listening and to everyone at Routt County Road and Bridge for all the work they do keeping our right of ways in such great shape for everyone to use and enjoy.

Routt County commissioners to finalize chip-and-seal policy
Everyone benefits, just some realize the benefits more, and some complain more.
Just like everyone shares the cost of roads no matter how they chose to use them.

Our View: City should have acted
How about reading your bill? Taxes are plainly stated on the bill, anyone could have protested this without needing the city to act.
