For numerous reasons, the Steamboat Pilot & Today at this point is not publishing Dave Kleiber's letter. Please do not post the letter in its entirety or in part. Those comments will be removed, and the users will be banned from posting. This is the paper's current stance on not publishing the letter: "At this time, we have chosen not to publish the letter in its entirety and instead outlined the general accusations in our initial story. The letter contains the names of a number of individuals in connection with serious allegations that at this point have not been substantiated. We are not covering up for anyone but protecting those who were named in the letter and in our eyes did not come forward publicly themselves. As the investigation unfolds and we do investigating of our own, we may decide to publish additional portions of the letter as the claims can be verified. We will be following this story closely and a second story on the unfolding investigation and the city council's involvement in the process will be published later today."

Here is the definition of illegal discharge of a firearm: Any person who knowingly or recklessly discharges a firearm into any dwelling or other building, occupied structure, or occupied motor vehicle.

It was argued Torres could not have fired into the building because he was technically in the building, inside the front door.

John, Steamboat police have been waiting for official lab results from the state. I will make sure they have not come in yet, but they assured me they would let me know as soon as they get them.

Brian, Good question, and I'm sorry I can't give you an answer right now. I am not sure what the parole rules are in Colorado, and it was not mentioned during the sentencing hearing.
