Scott, you missed a point that everyone seems to miss these days. You all think that drug crimes are all non-violent crimes. This is simply not the case and public safety is ALWAYS at risk when there is drug abuse prevalent in neighborhoods and schools.
Drug dealers use violence to protect their turf from other drug dealers. Drug dealers use violence and extortion to collect money from other drug dealers and users. Drug money is what financed criminal street and prison gangs as well as cartels who's propensity toward violence is graphically apparent. No one knows how many innocent people have been killed in in big city and Mexican drug wars.
Closer to home in your community; every time a car gets broken into, every time someones tool box is stolen, every time a home is burglarized, and every time a "non-violent" drug offender gets loaded and assaults someone or leaves a toddler to die of exposure, it can be blamed DIRECTLY on drugs like heroin and meth.
So, there is a great deal to consider in asking "...how do we keep people safe and therefor keep the public safe?"
I don't welcome the change at all. I didn't when Soroco, North Park, West Grand and Plateau Valley dropped to 8-man football either. Times change I suppose and it is better to change with them. Is it really declining attendance though, or declining participation?
This is a great story Luke. I am happy to see that Soroco is again doing well in football. But at the same time I am disappointed that schools like Soroco, West Grand, Plateau Valley, North Park, probably Rangely next year and so many other schools who used to be very competitive can no longer get enough kids out to play 11 man football. It's not that there is anything wrong with 8 man football, I just wonder if school enrollments have diminished that much...or just interest in the game. That would be a shame.
GO TIGERS!!! and Rams too I guess.
Guess you didn't know what I meant...
Just a couple of questions.... Just how many "medical marijuana" businesses does the county need anyway? And please tell me what the "whole mmj industry" has to do with a "recreational lifestyle"? Could it be that the whole "medical marijuana" argument is just a (not so) clever way to justify recreational use? If so, I don't really care. I just think people should start telling the truth and admit that the vast majority of people who smoke weed and demand access to "medical marijuana", have no legitimate need and simply want to get high. You know what I mean?
GO LOU!!!! Hey, cool socks.
Congratulations boys! Really, there is nothing in the world like going to state... Have fun and good luck!!
