I'm gonna miss your common sense approach id, this was great:
"The problem is that we don't know what he's going to do once he gets us in the car . . ." LMAO
I won't vote for him, ever, and here's why. ANYONE who refuses to place their hand over their heart and recite the Pledge, is no American to me and doesn't even deserve to go on a tour of the White House. Simple as that. People cannot be this stupid to put this guy in the House, it makes no sense. McCain is just another crusty old fart who's ideals are no different than the rest of them...but at least he's proud to be an American, shouldn't that count in something like...oh, I don't know...being President of the United States!!!
Here's how I see it. Skiing is a given, that is what made Steamboat. I think the locals just want a break in the summer to enjoy the off season in the paradise they came here for, you can't tell me employment opportunities lure people here. All the year-round tourism wears one down and it becomes mundane to live here instead of enjoyable. Maybe that is why there are no complaints about the skier's, like I said, they are a given and are tolerated until the snow melts. That's how it used to be but I guess not now, Steamboat is 365 forever. As for the locals and their kids, I agree, there are some who have no common sense at all. All TC needs to do is clean up their act, police those who cause discontent in host communities and cease the "you must build or else" attitude. Threats get you nothing.
We get the same here, just on a smaller scale. Crappy driving, loud, inconsiderate, just to name a few. This is the minority I believe and it all works on chance, you never know who you might run into. I have met and helped many kind and generous TC type so they ain't all bad.
Right. It is labeled the "Steamboatforum" however and so I thought I would be polite and ask first before I just butted in on the "Steamboat" conversations. Thanks.
Now THAT'S a great idea ColoradoNative, best of both worlds. Why not go for 5 or 6 stories, more parking and at a great height to overlook most of the downtown corridor with Howelson and Werner in full view. Not too terribly tall and intrusive yet efficient(would look a whole lot better than the "white thumb" y'all have sticking up in the middle of town, what the heck is that thing?). Boulder(yeah I know but it isn't bad to visit for a few days) has a 4, maybe 5 level right downtown on the Pearl street mall. Can't even tell it is a parking garage until you pull up to the entrance, at a good height to see most of the town, and room for 4-500 cars(guesstimate). At 5 bucks a pop thats alot of needed revenue, maybe enough to build that much needed t-shirt shop someone suggested;) The park on top is perfect, I would drive to Steamboat just to hang out and look around, people watch, and enjoy the mountain air.
Virtual pat on the back to ya, now you need to get someone important to listen to you.
I think of it this way, only 3 more months of plea barganing down criminals. New blood is on the way. Let's hope they come with a set of balls and leave the plea bargaining book behind. The da's office should be ashamed.
Beautiful or practical, I see two choices here. Id is right, you live in the middle of an outdoor park, why would you want more "open space" in the middle of town, Steamboat is all about "open space"?
The Practical solution would be to turn it into a parking lot. Look at how it was used before the fence went up. There were dozens of cars parked there all the time.
Beauty(which you live in)...or practical and useful, something to help with the parking crunch downtown?
"All the info except the year of birth is in the phone book."
IF you allow them to put it there, you have that option.
"Identity theft? Really?"
Really. Your trusting information to this (direct from Boyers post above):
"Only a couple of Pilot & Today Web site administrators, myself included, will have access to the user database. "
Are you people really this dense? What makes you trust that?
I can't imagine what other outsiders reading this forum think of your town with comments like this(and other worse ones):
"I guess we will not be hearing from you any more."
All for simply stating I don't trust someone, what is so wrong with not trusting someone I don't know? Your wish will be granted on the 4th. Guess working, playing, and spending alot of money in your town does not give me the right to post an opinion, figures...maybe I need to find a new playground.
I have already given them my name, they don't need anything else. If they can't trust me and my name, who says I have to trust them with more of my info? For the record I am not paranoid or psychotic, I am just extremely careful who I give ANY information to, I can't imagine what is wrong with that. Name and phone # now, what will be required next?
Like I said, give them an inch and they will take a mile.
