Condo proposed for Burgess Creek Road

The second comment notes that there is nothing across the street from the proposed project. Actually there are bears and other wildlife living there. That property is zoned to allow only one structure per lot and is someones back yard. Not only do the developers want to exceed the height by over 100% they also want to build almost to the property line on all sides. After looking at the plans, I had to wonder where they think they might put the snow in winter. They need to remember they are not building at the beach in Mexico. I hope the zoning standards are upheld and this project is scaled back to fit the established limits on building.

Rockie, I think the animal owner gets the ticket, not the animal. You see, they do this to prevent things like dog bites. Dog bites can be a big problem and result in big hospital bills, disfigurement and sometimes death and of course big law suits. There seems to be a big problem in Steamboat with loose domesticated animals. Posting it in the Record is a reminder to all that 1) Fido belongs on a leash or in a confined area and 2) one must be watch out around free roaming animals.

The Record for May 20

As I read it the bear was in the residence so it skipped the trash and went for the fresh food in the pantry. Perhaps it has been charged with breaking and entering or at least trespassing. Maybe it will be dropped off near Rockie's place as he seems to be amused by the large furry guys.

Bears are around, just not trying to get in the house at present.

Poor Rockie must be an insomniac to spend so much time in the wee hours of the morning commenting on the fine job done by the observant citizens and police.

I would think it suspicious to get in your car and drive somewhere at midnight to walk your dog.

Chest pains, hitting loose cattle and horses and vicious dog bites can all be lethal or expensive and time consuming. Rockie may suffer from bad Karma if laughing about it.
But better to be at your computer reviewing the Record than urinating in parking lots, driving drunk, beating up your spouse or getting in fights between midnight and 2 am.

Two get 3 years in abuse case

Forced sterilization would be good too so neither one of these scumbags can create another child to harm.

The garage door was not open. You are talking about a doggie door, big enough for a 12" tall dog, that has been there for a decade without problems before this season. Bears will also tear doors open, go through windows, etc. That is why seeking assistance to chase them away is sometimes required.

The Record for April 12

The bear mentioned in yesterday's record was not found by police during their visit but was discovered in the garage and chased away by the home owner shortly after police left. It was the 2nd visit from the bear. I asure you the homeowners do not find it as funny as you seem to.

Will the $30 increase in the cost of a season pass to the Steamboat Ski Area make you reconsider whether to purchase one?

I saw 2 kids buy pizza and cokes for lunch at the 3rd floor of Thunderhead and pay more than $30. The money is not so bad if they continue to fix and improve things. You can get in an extra run for the time you save in the Gondi line now that Christie Express is an option.
