Would you NEGATIVES fill differently if it were you, your spouse or your child that was treated and persecuted like this? I think not! What is the word??? APATHY. IT DOES NOT MATTER UNTIL IT MATTERS TO ME. Mr Jones, I do not know you but I sincerely hope that you will be man enough to rethink your statement and retract it.

Just for the record, MARITAL PRIVILEGE says that a spouse can not be forced to testify against a spouse, but a spouse can voluntarily testify. Maybe the DA needs to read the COLORADO REVISED STATUTES again.

Another case of over-charging and under prosecuting. Law enforcement in our county sure lacks in efficiency. I have had two horses shot in the last two years and no investigation was performed. The only results were a deputy that came to the scene looked at the horses and said " LOOKS LIKE THEY WERE SHOT". Well duhhhh. A hole through the neck is pretty indicative of a gun shot. His wise---- remark was not appreciated when he said "must have been a big fly to make a hole like that". No neighbors were interviewed and no forensics were gathered. CASE CLOSED. And no report was available since no evidence was gathered. We really need some changes and now!

I commend Mrs Bantle for releasing her letter to the public. She does believe in transparency and so should our city council. Shame on them if they do not release the full report less the confidential witnesses' I D. There is NO reason for WE THE PEOPLE to not have access to the FULL report. WE THE PEOPLE bought and paid for it, now we need to see what we bought. If that would cause hardships for the department, as stated in previous articles, then that in itself says that the "clean up " is not complete. I once again, urge the community to stand behind Mrs Bantle, and make a money contribution to help make up for the wrongs done to her by our SO CALLED LEADERS. It is the Season for giving, so lets open our hearts and wallets. Even small contributions can add up. Contributions can be sent to her attorney. We also must respect attorney Matt Tjosvold for having the BACK-BONE to take the case and defend the one that was wronged. I sincerly hope that a Civil case follows to secure restitution for Mrs Bantles losses. Best of luck and MERRY CHRISTMAS to the Bantle family.

Ms Sloop, do all of us, including yourself, a favor and resign to save the people the cost of a recall. You have violated the trust placed in you by the public by electing you. There will always be doubt in your future votes as to conflict of interest.

Why is" DRUG IMPAIRMENT being investigated " even mentioned in this article? At this point your reporter strongly suggests that the driver was on drugs. When the report is finally released and NO evidence of impairment is found, you have already made the insinuation and damage to character is done. The family and everyone who has connections to this person is grieving so why add to their grief? Reporter should just stick to the facts. No guesses or insinuations should be allowed.

Yet another case of P-poor law enforcement in Routt County. Wiggins evidently INFLUENCED the D A ( and those letters can stand for many things ), a public servant, to prosecute one who was serving the public in a way that brought a lot of people that know her to her side. Thankfully, the jury was fair and rendered a unanimous verdict in Mrs Bantle's favor. This is yet another strike against the administration. Get ready--another one is forthcoming ref a Constitutional and Civil Rights violation re the refusal of the Sheriff to renew a CCW without just cause. ACLU and USCCW attorneys have been advised of this and are ready to act unless the sheriff gets his stuff together immediately. Also, we as a community should assist Kristin, as much as possible, with her legal expenses and the costs of her defense. Also, a Christmas Tradition is giving. We should also pitch in and help make up for the salary she lost during and because of this lastest WIGGINS' escapade. I for one, will be dropping a check off at her attorneys' office tomorrow. Wouldn't YOU appreciate this simple and thoughtful gesture if it were you that were in Mrs. Bantles situation. Also, we should push for reinstatement of her job with back pay and compensation for lost benefits. A Civil suit should follow. I thoroughly expect a lot of lights in my rear-view to be RED AND BLUE because of my posting and it probably will not be a CHRISTMAS TREE.
