I'm sure there are far more dangerous positions out there. Police tend to get themselves in these incidents. An officer has the discretion to not enforce laws; especially those laws that are unconstitutional. It seems police have made their priorities to focus on victimless crimes. They have become a revenue generator. I doubt the anti-police attitude will disappear if police don't respond. Lets face it, police do not protect people. If that were the case, there wouldn't be murder, theft, robbery, burglary, etc.. The people are made to think they need law enforcement because laws make government and law enforcement a monopoly. Can't fire them. Police need to be held accountable for their actions, as anyone else would be. If one feels police should be able to spit on the civilians without repercussion, then gross. While in the academy, I can say the mentality of police is not what it should be. They are public servants. We pay for government services. They need to be professional, and keep integrity. If they stop keeping themselves divided from the civilians, that's a start to building a trust again. When the first police agency was created, one of its ethics was the people are the police, and the police are the people.

So you are saying the police should have the authority, and given immunity if they are not acting professional, lack integrity, and are not acting within the scope of the constitution which they all have taken an oath to uphold?

Hello, I just wanted to say the "free bus" isn't free. We and the tourist pay bus services through sales tax. I call it "the already paid for bus" :) it's accurate. I think the bus system should be the best and wait times should be short. Everyone benefits from the bus! Since we steamboatians are forced to pay sales tax, and people need transportation I say lets get ridiculous plans (e.g. 9 million dollar police station) and put that into necessities...I've had pleasant experiences commuting on the bus, and awful ones; times where the bus drove past me, which then made me late to appointments. Though I do appreciate the bus driver for taking me where I need to go and thanking him/her for it, we shouldn't let the bus line feel they are doing us a favor, rather we are the employers. I'm always told a vote matters; that my single vote changes everything.....I vote keep that bus rolling and make improvements.

The project is not necessary in my opinion. We could use that money to finish the unfinished sidewalks in town! It's just crazy to walk on a sidewalk or path and have it just end. Or perhaps build a shelter for those in need...or something else that would be a great benefit for the good people of Steamboat Springs. Better idea...lets give that money back to the people to help a little bit for their own healthcare costs... Just my opinion. I respect other ideas for the benefit of the community.

Thank you very much Brian! I believe you we're the guy we talked to a bit yesterday when it happened correct? So you know pretty much what happened.
