Luke Graham: Steamboat hockey starting to play well

"...With a roster full of sophomores and just three seniors"..What about the nine juniors on the team...last time I looked #3,21,23,12,27,28,32,and 33 were all contributing to the games in a pretty significant way. Ramirez is the third leading scorer for the team and he is on defense, The goalie on Saturday was also a junior. I think it could be a heck of a season next year! Go get um boys!

Steamboat hockey outlasts Dakota Ridge, 5-3

Joel, Have you been to many Sailor hockey games? Yes, we may have squeaked out a win, but this was by far the worst the team has played yet. 13 penalties, over 50 shots on Jesse Draper, who was the only player played good hockey, And two of the captins leading the way in penalty minutes. Obviously there wasnt much leadership on this team during this game. Hopefully Tuesday night will be a good game and show what the team is capable of.

Chelsea Soderberg: Disenchanted local

Chelsea, I appreciate your letter. I too was at the work session. I disagree with you on several points. first being that Parks and Rec handled it in a professional manner. Yes, several times Chris Wilson said, "so noted" but did you notice that he did not have pen and paper? All of the notes are in his head, and from previous dealings wiith him, he has a very selective memory. It will be interesting to see what happens at the July 13th meeting. Over the last eight years this passive open space has been dramaticlly altered. The extreme jumps were not constructed with tourists in mind. As the one gentleman said, there is a core group of ten people that use it. This group's destruction of the passive open space will cost the tax payers thousands of dollars to repair and even more if and when somebody gets.

MTroach. The jumps can be accessed from Fish Creek Falls across from Harwig Circle. Go up the path under the large power lines. You will see an extreme jump track with jumps six to eight feet high. You will be amazed at the illegal earth moving activity that has gone on.

Carrie and Tony Requist: Band is invaluable

Carrie they are not planning on cutting all of band, only half so each elementary school would get it for one semester. The bigger issue that you should be concerned with is that they are planning on cutting Spanish either entirely ,or depending on the budget, from third and fourth grades. I feel that this has a much larger impact on the students than band. Fifth grade has a hard time finding time to teach all the the curriculum as it is. The new standards for next year put even more pressure on them to teach more with fewer resources. I would rather see band offered as an after school activity and more time spent in the classroom.

Luke Graham: From small time to big league

What happened to that line anyway? Ruff barely puts Wharton, Elliott and Conroy together anymore. It was working so well. I don't get it.
