What makes Mr. Krazoff think that the busses don't already pull out from the bus stops whenever they want to now? How about the speed limit infractions, using 2 lanes through downtown, not pulling out of the traffic lanes at bus stops? Everyone who drives here sees all of these things on a daily basis. Perhaps ALL of the traffic would move a little more smoothly if the busses were to follow the same traffic laws as everyone else does.
With our city council's inablility to see more than a couple of hours into the future, it shouldn't come as a shock that they are surprised at the cost of the new (and totally unnecessary) community center. Does it make sense to anyone else to tear down an adequate community center and build one somewhere much less convenient so that the library can build a massive expansion, then use most of it's existing building as a community room? If you've got so much money burning a hole in your pockets, why not build some sort of youth center or subsidize real affordable housing?
Is it merely a coincedence that right after Ken Brenner makes a statement to the fact that unless our kids are either Olympic contenders or scholar geniuses, that there is no room for them in our community, that he starts getting lambasted by some members of the council and the community? How could the man have the audacity to suggest giving our local kids the same opportunity to enjoy this valley that we give tourists? I personnally want to thank Mr. Brenner for bringing the plight of the skate park into the open again, it's just a shame that so many people's ear are stuffed with tourists money that they can't hear people like Ken.
The people that are trying despirately to find things to bring more tourists here in the summer should take the time to think back when we had car races, vintage car races, motorcycle races, and a balloon rodeo. That was before "we" let the developers run amok here! I know that you're going to say that we still have the balloon rodeo, but do you really believe that people on vacation are going to get up & be transported halfway to Stagecoach just to watch the balloons? I'm guessing that this summer will see the last balloon rodeo. And having a festival to celebrate the rampant capitolism downtown is just ignorant. It will be impossible to get from one end of town to the other with six major contruction venues going on, let alone shutting Lincoln Ave. down for a festival. Face it, we let a few developers get fat at every other locals' expence and now we're seeing the bills.
