Three Dog Night to play at the Fairgrounds

flotilla

"Chest Fever" started out with this swirling organ jam, but you weren't sure what it was leading into, then the keyboardist launched it into the four opening chords and it just rocked.

Three Dog Night to play at the Fairgrounds

Just don't expect Chuck Negron. He is clean and sober and estranged from the band. His book, "Three Dog Nightmare", is an exellent read and chronicles the excesses of sex, drugs and rock n' roll of the 70s. He went from rock Superstar to sleeping on a mattress he pulled from a dumpster in downtown LA, crashing in an abandoned warehouse, sleeping with cockroaches instead of groopies. His comments about other band members guaranteed he will never be welcomed back in the band.

The current band line-up headlined a classic rock festival in Estes Park a few years ago, and were very good. They even played my favorite song, "Chest Fever."

Holiday homecoming

Steamboat is truely blessed to have people of this caliber in our community. What a wonderful photo of a terrific family and an awesome young man. Now there's a guy we can all be proud of.

A salute to you Private 1st Class Carmack!

The Record for Dec. 4

Was that duck taken into custody because he was eating garbage out of a dumpster?

The Record for Dec. 4

What do you feed a duck in custody? Quackers and water.

Highway 40 crash victim identified

The plan to transport illegals detained in Mesa County (Grand Junction) was outlined in a newspaper article in the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel several weeks ago. The facilities there do not meet Federal standards, and it was stated that in the future these detainees would be moved to Moffat County, Park County and Aurora.

Was this information ever printed in the Craig Daily Press or the Steamboat Pilot? NO

And it never will be. These two papers will NEVER print anything negative about illegal immigration. To me, this is real news, but instead, we will probably get another fluff piece about the cultural infusion these hard working people are bringing to the valley.

My real concern, is where are these people going to be released? Will the Pilot cover this story? No way.

Highway 40 crash victim identified

I contacted the reporter who did this story, last week, when I learned of some of the details that were never reported. His LAME excuse, was that the accident investigation wasn't complete and he could not say if the allegations of no driver's license, no insurance and illegality were true or untrue. He wanted ME to provide him with contact numbers to check out the facts. So far, no facts, and a real lack of truth regarding this accident.

The Pilot and Craig Daily Press should be taken to task to provide us with information about this accident. What are they trying to hide?

Census: Population declining

Looks like they "forgot" to count the illegals. Imagine that.

Mike Lawrence: Consultants cost city more than $1.3 million

The city of Aspen has so much money to throw away, they just hired a Director of Global Warming to address problems like affordable housing down-valley. No mention was made of the conspicuous consumption that goes on there or the pollution created by private jets of the rich and famous. I guess global warming is only an issue for the poor people living down-valley. Can Steamboat be far behind?

Randy Dodd: Marijuana no danger

Amen freerider.

#'s For the record, Mama Cass died of a heart attack. She did not choke on anything, and she wasn't smoking anything. "I don't really care if Momma Cass smoked pot til she choked on her tuna sandwich."

If you're going to entertain us with your expertise, try to make it legit.

For the record, Willie Nelson has explained many times how smoking pot was a life saver for him. He was on the road to becoming an alcoholic, and smoking pot turned his life around.

Paul McCartney GAVE UP smoking pot when he married that "whore", as #'s so lovingly described her. She insisted on it. Notice all the good tunes he's written lately? Neither have I. I hope he gets his act together and starts smoking again. McCartney/Lennon wrote some of their best stuff when they were using drugs, as did Hendrix.
