I was extremely sad to see this article tonight. I had the amazing pleasure of living in Steamboat during three incredible winters (two literally incredible: '95-'96 and '96-'97). Anyway, all three of my years living full time in Steamboat, the Mountain was always open through the 2nd week of April. Then, ASC, at times, started shutting it down after the first week. It was often alleged as related to the National Forest license; but, this is not true, I later learned. Too bad Intrawest chooses to take a weak position compared to the Summit resorts? Definitely weak to make even worst decisions than ASC regarding the opportunities to promote Steamboat.
Closing day April 6
