Two comments; Scott, don't wimp out on us, I don't think this fix has solved your criminal justice problem.
The DAs, local police representative, fly above seem to have a great deal of trouble with the concept "adding new information." Dres anyone have any idea what the problem is?
This travesty will be over when Bonnie Roesink and Kerry St James are no longer in positions of power. Det. Captain Del Valle also needs to understand that it is possible in the light of further investigation to amend police reports. I am proud of those who supported Mr. Charle and Mr. Siller. I also commend Alexis DeLaCruz and the Steamboat Pilot & Today for their coverage. I hope that everyone will continue to carefully monitor the criminal justice system in your area.
There is no justice in the 14th Judicial District and that is the result of the arrogance and incompetence of District Attorney Bonnie Roesink and her subordinate Asst. Distict Attorney Kerry James. If there had been any doubt before, their comments at yesterday's meeting confirmed it. I would ask Det. Captain Del Valle is it possible to amend a police report in light of additional facts and information?
A reconsideration and significant lessening of the sentences is a reasonable solution now that ALL of the facts are available. A revised police report should be prepared immediately. Such an action should be taken as quickly as possible since justice delayed is justice denied. I was particularly taken by the District Attorney's Office and Police Department's insistence on only considering the original (and now clearly incomplete and incorrect) police report. The original report was taken in the heat of the moment, and ignores (in light of Mr. Hieb's and Ms. Zambrana's revised statements) the facts re. the non-entry into the establishment, and the taking from the dumpster of pig food. In the the interests of justice for the the young men, the integrity of the Judicial and Law Enforceament systems in the County, and the reputation and economic interests of the City of Steamboat Springs MS. Roesink must act to reduce these sentences. Considerable damage has already been done, Ms. Roesink should not stubbornly continue to compound it.
It's difficult to determine which one is more pathetic; Assistant District Attorney Kerry St James, District Attorney Bonnie Roesink, or the police officer. It is clear that when Mr. Heib tells the three that athe two men DID NOT ENTER THE BUILDING, they do NOT want to hear it.
Clearly a few "residents" don't get it. Let's hope that the Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce and District Attorney Roesink do. If not the interests of justice at least the economic interests of the county should be served. Mr. St James sounds like quite a guy, did he slap the police chief's and Kid's wrists really, really hard?
Do the people and the business community of Steamboat Springs support Mr. St. James farce? I will be following this case closely (from a safe distance from Steamboat Springs), and unless and until this travesty is ended I will maintain that distance. My regret is that I will not have the opportunity to vote against the District Attorney in the next election.

DA: Justice was served
The best option available at this point is to see that Roesink is history next year and, sorry folks, bypass the Steamboat Springs off ramp.
