Almostlocal, you had to be there to understand that IT WAS TC CAUSING YESTERDAY'S TRAFFIC JAM!!!. The traffic jam started at Pine Grove, came all the way down 40, turned left, and was bumper to bumper to romick arena, where TC had some sort of gathering (not a game, it was awards or organizational stuff). It was unbelievable!
The folks who complain about individual groups and families attending TC, in my opinion, are dead wrong. I see nothing wrong with the TC participants and I harbor no ill will towards them. However I still suggest that we eliminate our dependence on them.
Geez, everyone is talking about eliminating our dependence on foreign oil. TC is the same thing, exactly! Towns, Counties, States, and Countries should not depend on one source for anything that concerns their economic well-being! Especially when there is a huge, diverse pool of active folks just waiting to be marketted to replace TC. It is so obvious, I can't believe anyone would argue against it.
Diverse groups coming to Steamboat to replace TC would significantly improve our TC-caused summer traffic problems. The traffic of TC moves in pulses in concert with their games, awards, etc. A more diverse pool of summer visitors would not move in these traffic congesting (traffic as vehicles and traffic on sidewalks, in restaurants, stores, etc) pulses.
Regarding Colonative's link to Towney's arrival, "When he moved his family to Steamboat, it was to open the Rocky Mountain Regional Office of the Orton Family Foundation."
Wow, conspiracy all right! Holy smokes, Towney, a wolf in sheep's clothing to the ultimate degree. Congratulations, you fooled a lot of people, you must have your sights set on higher office!
Of all the potential heinous crimes that are perpetrated in our country, sexual harrassment is the most abused accusation on the books. All some pissed off chick has to do is whisper the word, and a guy's life is ruined. Just look at Coloradobu's ignorance of reality, recommending the Chief take a sexual harrassment course. Did you miss the part in the article where it said that he was acquitted! He is innocent! In terms of the potential threat posed to the public, the typical case of sexual harrassment is more comparable to jaywalking than to sexual molestation. Yet a simple accusation can hang over a guy's head for life. Its the most stupid law on the books!
What a joke! I've been traveling that road for 24 years, used to live there at one time. Never did it occur to me that the lanes were too narrow! Nancy Stahoviak, gimme a break!!!! "...was not a comfortable feeling..." !!!! Geez, if you're not comfortable driving aStrawberry Park Road, you must be terrified driving down Lincoln, or I-70, or Broadway in Denver! C'mon, Monger, strap 'em on! That road ain't dangerous! My gosh, people, get some common sense! Next biker who gets clipped on that road is partially your fault, commissioners!
Well said, Mr. Enever! You have put into concise, logical words exactly what all of the various folks who dislike TC have been trying to say in mostly illogical, poorly thought out diatribes.
I expect your letter may actually help elicit a much needed change in our lazy Chamber! Everyone is always screaming for more diversity in everything. How about a diverse portfolio in our summer tourist markets?! Sandy Evans Hall, are you listening?
So Omar, get a petition going, I'd love to see it put to the popular vote! And make sure the petition carriers know what information needs to be put in the address section!
Then what're you whining about 'illegal weight restrictions' for, commonsense, cause its in yer nature to be whiney? Doesn't sound like you got a dog in this fight. Don't live in Brooklyn, don't own a truck, just spouting off to read your spouts? And I reiterate, I'd much rather see Qwest than another fancy, overpriced development go in there!
Triple Crown could stay

SilverSpoon,
Yer handle says it all. Only one born with a silver spoon would think that answers are all that simple!
