Been a lifetime member for 21 years and sadly, I'm calling this one my last. The rate hike is too much to be practical while working my FULL TIME JOB. Additionally, the way it is being implemented is simply insulting. No notice, no discussion, just a letter saying here it is. Still gonna keep working out only now I'll be doing it down the road at Peak Fitness. They have a great facility, not overcrowded with snobbish, part time resident brats. Also, not sure if I could keep a straight face in the place with the likes of some clown like "foodchain" in there. He has got to be the geeky little dweeb in there with the knee high socks, 70's style headband and shorts up to the rib cage. Enjoy it you snob. I'll be working out down the street with the "real" locals and swimming at Stagecoach.
This is a great show and a great time. Much kudos to the staff, actors etc. of Pirate Theatre for giving us locals something new and different to do on an evening besides hitting the same old bars. Very much looking forward to catching the show.
Seriously...sexual assault on a child? First offense should be the last. A quick grip, a snip, no more worries. Castrate the bastard. Big props to the building mngr. for slapping the slimeball around.
Single season snow record and the earliest closing date in recent memory?????? COME ON!!! That is lame beyond words and there is no other way to put it. EXTEND THE SEASON NOW!!!!!!!!
Good for you Bubba...that was a pretty weak comment by bcpow. Not staying open until AT LEAST the 13th is really pretty ridiculous. Even if ski corp scaled down on what was open(bc, storm and the gondi for example) that would be a far better option than closing what well and truly is a week early. How about marketing to the front range something along the lines of 400+ inches of snow to date and $50 lift tickets during that last week. That sure would bring in some business(to the town and the mountain) and would be a nice little perk for the local businesses and the locals who work in them. It would seem to be the least Ski Corp could do for the working folks of the 'boat.
That is not what I meant....to "excuse" him for anything. It's just while we are passing around judgments on a persons "moral character" I think we all need to look inside ourselves. Kevin is a really good guy and this is tearing his family apart. Besides, I think an innocent verdict in a court of law excused him. At least that is how I think it still works.
This is a terrible, mean spirited decision by the city council. A bar owner not allowed on the premises? Seriously, how is that supposed to work? The Nerney's are a good family who moved to SBS (Kevin was, after all, a NYC firefighter.....how quickly we forget) to pursue the "American Dream" and have instead found elitism, vicious personal attacks and snobbery. Maybe Kevin, and I stress maybe -since he was found innocent- did make an error of judgment but who really hasn't? To deny him and his family their right to earn a living is simply wrong.
These attacks on each other are pointless. All I know for certain is I work my butt off to provide for my family and don't ask for a lot in return. Instead, what I got is a 30%+ increase in the taxes levied against my home, my land and my business. This 30%+ increase was for a total of approx $3000! Before anyone makes light of these increases, think about shelling out $3K out of your OWN pocket on top of already existing taxes! Let there be no mistake that this increase is BRUTAL, it IS hitting us very hard and if the goal here is to eradicate the middle class in the Yampa Valley, then this is what we are going to soon be seeing. I understand that the money goes to a wide array of worthy causes but when do we say "enough is enough"?
"Have any of us witnessed racism in Routt County"? When two 14 year olds square off in a fight and the one who is defending himself(Nelson) ends up with assault charges and going before a trial by jury? We have ALL just witnessed racism only it was by our esteemed judicial system.
