Steamboat to continue discussion about firefighter salaries

Joe, that is how the market is supposed to work. Sorry that many refuse to understand this dynamic. It is healthy for for the economy when the workforce remains flexible to move to better opportunities.

Steamboat to continue discussion about firefighter salaries

If they can find jobs, that pay more elsewhere, then they should move. That is how the market is supposed to work.

Laila Powers: Low-lying fruit

It should come as no surprise that our volunteer-turned-professional staff of EMS/fire professionals here in Steamboat Springs receive 12 to 35 percent less pay then their counterparts in other mountain communities. The same is true of our less then half a dozen full-time professionals we have serving our community in the county.

If the steamboat personnel is dissatisfied they have the option of moving to higher paying communities. Good luck.

Our View: Go ahead with trail project

By far the best use of my tax dollars. Please proceed with plans to extend the core trail all the way to Heritage Park. In particular a note of gratitude to Ms. Busch for having the required vision and energy to be a great representative. Hope we can succeed in educating Nancy and Doug and get them to agree to cooperate with the City.

Howelsen stakeholders to present ideas for revenue

In order to move towards breaking even, $800'000 must be earned every year. That is why a business solution is necessary, which should then be imposed on the SSWSC, nordic council and ice rinkers.

Howelsen stakeholders to present ideas for revenue

The taxpayers are the stakeholders, not only the SSWSC, nordic council and ice rinkers. Why are we not encouraging business people unafilliated with the above to contribute? If the goal really is to make money then get people on board who have experience in doing so and kick off those interest groups who simply spend our tax money.
