I agree with JLM. I’d like to see Bob McConnell in Congress.

As for you libs, it’s pretty simple:

More Government = Higher Taxes = Fewer Private Sector Jobs = Less Opportunity

The only people who benefit from more government is the bureaucrats in government.

I don’t want a depressed economy and 10% unemployment to become the new normal.

McConnell would be a good choice to get the spending under control and help fix the health care mess the dems have created.

Who in their right mind would believe that allowing the Federal Government to control healthcare and another 1/6 of the economy would make anything less expensive or better?

159 new government agencies, 16,000 new IRS agents, thousands of new regulations and an all-powerful politically appointed Director of Health & Human Services – Sounds like Tyranny to me. It’s like:

Hello, I’m from the IRS, I’m here to Help.

Aichempty makes many good points that will never be considered by the GW religion crowd. It should also be noted that we are at or near peak oil. We can't keep the CO2 production at these levels much longer even if we wanted to.

Matt. did it ever occur to you that the price of airline tickets and lift tickets are going to go through the roof if the Statists pull this off? A ski vacation is going to cost a lot more. Do you really think we will still be able to pull off a million skier days with these higher prices?

If this nonsense becomes law, it is going to be a lot tougher on Steamboat than any of you GWers think.

Well said Jeremy.

That trailer park was a dump, so was the Harbor Hotel. Ski Time Square was a tinderbox waiting for a flame. That old liquor store was an eyesore. Some of these developments should have been re-classified as improvements. The same could be said about the base area IMPROVEMENTS as well.

I would like to say thanks to the builders and developers that are IMPROVING our town. Maybe they could do Dream Island next.

Snowblow - One of the people who signed the petition was a physicist named Freeman Dyson, also a lib like you. His view on GW makes a lot more sense than the Al Gore version.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/magazine/29Dyson-t.html

"Climate models, he says, take into account atmospheric motion and water levels but have no feeling for the chemistry and biology of sky, soil and trees. "The biologists have essentially been pushed aside," he continues. "Al Gore's just an opportunist. The person who is really responsible for this overestimate of global warming is Jim Hansen. He consistently exaggerates all the dangers."

He goes on to say we should be more concerned about the ozone levels and cooler temperatures in the stratosphere. I don't think he works for Exxon.

31,478 American scientists have signed this petition doubting the convincing scientific evidence on GW, including 9,029 with PhDs.

They even included their names. I actually found the names of a few engineers that I know.
