Haha! Nice Phoebe. I think I'm officially pulling myself out of this Duster fiasco. It's been a lot of fun. It's definitely more addicting than the Devil's Lettuce!

Anyone gonna join me in leaving this Duster feller behind?

I will give you credit, Duster. You have tricked some of us more intelligent individuals into coming down to your level and engaging in what a 3rd grader might consider intense debate.

You are certainly well-versed in the art of trolling.

Only takes one what? Driving under the influence of marijuana, drugs or booze is stupid and illegal. If a person dies because he's driving high, it wasn't the weed that killed him. It was his reckless behavior. Quit trying to tie my pro marijuana stance into pro driving while intoxicated.

As I've mentioned, your lack of common sense is much more detrimental to society than marijuana could even come close to.

I'm guessing that most normal thinking Americans would throw your credibility out the window as soon as they saw your elementary communication skills. At least Lisa and Kelly have the ability to present an argument as if they are talking to other adults. Why don't you just let them do the work.

I was more getting at the fact that this doctor was prescribing a very legal and common prescription drug which killed some of his patients, yet you are getting your panties in a wad about a harmless little plant.

Even if every MMJ doc and every MMJ patient were frauds and liars, you would still never see an article like this as marijuana cannot kill you and has very minimal side effects.

Still not understanding this "terminal illness" concept to which you keep referring. Chronic pain, one of the qualifying conditions for MMJ, is not a terminal illness.

You are truly an obtuse miscreant.

On a quick aside - I would still very much like to see the city put in place certification requirements for those wishing to wear tight spandex on their bicycles. Some people (I won't name names) really should be wearing bike SHORTS with the spandex built in. Not adhering to this truly presents a public safety hazard as many drivers and other bikers are forced to cover their eyes when they see riders ill-equipped to be wearing such tight attire. Why do you need to be so aerodynamic, anyhow? Where are you going that you need to get there so fast?

Clearsky - I think you are well intentioned and I wish more of society would have your attitude towards our community and the environment. It's amazing how much we take for granted.

It's a bummer that this town does not have a more road biker friendly infrastructure. There are so many beautiful routes with a ton of potential, but unless someone ponies up millions of dollars for shoulders and other additions, they will simply remain beautiful routes with a ton of potential. Let's focus on the wide array of mountain biking tourism opportunities we have because that is more than feasible given the infrastructure already in place.

In a perfect world, bikers and drivers would both follow the rules of the road and go about their business courteously. Unfortunately, there are self-entitled jackasses on both sides of the aisle, so both sides will continue to bicker at one another. Bad drivers have been around for decades (very much still true in this town). Bad road bikers might be a fairly new concept in the mainstream due to the sport's recent surge, so maybe that's why there's so much vitriol? Just a guess.

Lisa,

It is so exciting that you are ready to start focusing on the FACTS surrounding this issue! Here is a fact - even if marijuana were 100% legalized for recreational use, driving high would still be illegal. So, what's your point?

Here are some other facts for you. They have been presented numerous times on these forums, but I will just assume your computer screen is broken as you have not yet paid attention to these interesting facts:

  • It's impossible to overdose on marijuana
  • The myth that marijuana is a gateway drug has been busted
  • The myth that marijuana kills brain cells has been busted
  • Marijuana is a proven medical remedy for numerous ailments, most notably, chronic pain. It will not work for everyone in pain, but who are you to tell someone else what is and is not the right choice for pain relief? I find it surprising that you would rather your family be prescribed prescription painkillers, which kill tens of thousand of people every year (including Tylenol), as opposed to marijuana, which kills zero people annually
  • Driving while impaired by anything is crazy and should be illegal as you are putting others in harms way, but it has been proven that someone driving while high on marijuana is much less of a risk than someone who has been drinking alcohol
  • You have absolutely zero evidence supporting your postulation that having MMCs in our community will negatively impact our youth. That is simply baseless speculation on your part. If that's the stance you're going to take, we should both agree that closing down bars and liquor stores is a much more realistic and effective approach

Those are facts, not opinions.

It's truly sad how the Tea Party has become a party of "keep government out of our lives only if it is convenient for us and congruent with our belief system." You have absolutely no right to tell someone what they can or cannot do in their private lives as long as what they are doing does not harm anyone else. Butt the F out.

I'm sure you're busy telling the homosexuals in New York that they shouldn't be getting married because it goes against your personal belief system even thought it does not impact your life or well being in any way, shape or form.

Facts Lisa, just the facts.
