Wow, once again only our "Village See" could turn a game of checkers - or an article about golf - into a left wing socialist conspiracy. Now that the tea baggers are out of the race, let's all vote for Newt and get a "permanent manned space station on the Moon"! Stick around, seeuski, every village needs one of you around.
There are many local workers who have still not gotten paid for work done on this pub from when it was called Kyteler's. I personally plan not to support this business and ask other locals to do the same.
Wow, just when I thought some of these posts couldn't get any more stupid, our Village SeeuskIDIOT steps up to the plate once again. Not for one minute do I believe that marijuana had anything to do with this tragedy. I do think that it could have been prevented in a couple of different ways, and that is if the Steamboat Springs PD would have responded better to the first fight that was reported approximately ten minutes earlier, instead of performing their standard 35 mph drive by inspection.
Whether or not Steamboat wants to be known as Drunk Town USA, it appears that they are going for the title.
Another possible solution to the problem would be stopping the over-serving of alcohol. I'm aware that bartenders must get TIPS certified which includes learning when a person has had enough. I have never been TIPS certified but have been a proud member of D.T. USA. I have drank in every downtown bar and have never been cut off from another drink until I have run out of money and didn't have enough for a tip.
I suggest that cameras be installed in all bars, so that TIPS violations and instigators of fights would be caught on camera. Maybe future incidents could be prevented.
In reply to Tai Chi, what seems to be the Oracle of Oak Creek has the distinct smell of Steamboat Springs. I had the opportunity to drive by the site of the tasering of horse and rider incident, and I don't think that smell is EVER going to go away!
I agree that this officer should have to work when he goes fishing for a bust. The fishing expedition begins when he "notices a strong alcohol/marijuana smell in your car", and in which most cases is not really present. I suggest you always refuse a roadside sobriety test, as this is a tool that overzealous cops will use to always find that you have flunked on at least one of his subjective tests. Unless you are under arrest there is no reason to get out of your car. Stay inside. Also, you should ask the officer why he thinks you are impaired, because a cracked windshield, no front license plate, failure to signal, or even bloodshot eyes (as there are many reasons besides drugs that someone may have red eyes) are not signs of impairment. And always refuse a search of your vehicle.
If asked to do so, you are required to take a blood test or Breathalyzer test or you will lose your license. But make him work for it and ask him again what is his reasonable suspicion that you are impaired.
I agree with you 100%, oldskoolstmbt. I see no remorse in any of Fred's comments, but instead they are about how all the professionals are wrong - "Why is everyone picking on me?" I do not know of Fred's medical expertise but I will believe a non-partisan coroner's conclusions over his opinion. Even though OSHA shows Fred's safety record to be clear, anyone who has been in this area remembers the 2002 "dynamite blunder", in which tragedy was narrowly averted. Therefore, I will believe OSHA's investigation rather than Fred's opinion.
I also feel extremely bad about Mr. Meier's untimely death, and whether it is my tax dollars that have to pay if the town of Steamboat is found to be at fault, or Duckels' insurance (which thankfully is mandated by the government), or whether it will come out of Fred's own pocket, the Meier family deserves monetary compensation for their great loss.
Fred, you have dodged a lot bullets in the past, and the court systems have been very lenient on you. My advice to you is, quit feeling so sorry for yourself and show more sympathy for the Meier family,
Thank you, John Salazar, for your support of this Health Care Bill, and for voting not only for what our country needs but also for voting the way your constituents (who put you into office) wanted you to.
I also deeply respect all of the Democratic senators as a whole, regardless if they vote yes or no on this bill, because they all will vote as they think their constituents want them to. Also, shame on you, GOP for following your leader, Mr. Boehner, like a herd of sheep. It's amazing to me that your whole flock always thinks and votes exactly the same. What Boehner says, you do. So in essence, you are all one big Boehner. Which includes the Rush Limbaughs, seeuskis, Duckels, and all other fascists of this world.
If this bill passes, I heard that Rush Limbaugh says that he will leave the United States. If he needs help chartering this bus, I will be more than glad to pitch in for his exit! The only shame of this will be is if there is one empty seat.
Hey Seeyoufalldown, at least half of your dozen posts keep referring to President Obama's 1 or 2 misstatements. I don't know if you've been smoking dope or just drunk that you can't remember what you wrote in your previous comments, because I believe you've mentioned those same mistakes about 6 times now. For crying out loud, there's a whole book written about all the stupid statements that Bush made, otherwise known as Bushisms. Also we are starting to feel sorry for you, it seems like your whole life revolves around sending a multitude of comments to the Steamboat Pilot......
One more closing thought regarding the GOP's "new hope", Sarah Palin, maybe you've heard this one before......you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig!
Hey seeufalldown, I noticed you didn't say anything about the Tea Bag Party that that dingbat Sarah Palin was at center circle, is that the kind of intelligence that you admire? Gimme a break! She, like all Republicans, seem to have plenty of criticism and talks about "change" and "better ideas", but as usual, offered no solutions or ideas of her own.
It also amazes me that you people are so critical of President Obama and his ideas - at least he's got some! You forget who got us into this mess in the first place - the previous administration. Obama has been office for just 1 year, and I don't know what you people expect - it took us over 8 years to get into this mess, Obama can't just snap his fingers and make all the problems go away in a year! Especially with the Republicans voting "NO" to everything!
There are so many inaccuracies in your comment, I don't even know where to start! First off, the CLINTON administration ended with a surplus, the BUSH administration and Congress gave us the recession! How can you say the Clinton administration didn't budget for 9/11 and two wars? Why the heck should they? Bush and his cronies were the ones who wanted the wars, and lied like dogs to get us into them. The Obama administration is not perfect, but at least President Obama is trying to keep things honest and informing the public. The Bush administration was famous for their lies and repression of the truth. We put up with the Bush administration for 8 lousy years, and a Republican majority for nearly that long who spent billions on pork and earmarks, but yet you and the Republicans won't even give Obama a chance after only 60 days! The economy is on a slight upturn, despite you and RUSH LIMBAUGH's hopes that he will fail. You had your way for 8 years, and it was a miserable failure. Let's at least give Obama's way a try!
