The American people reelected a strong opposition to the president as well.
Not really Tyler. The Democrats actually gained a couple of seats in the Senate, defying all expectations, and also picked up 8 seats in the House, certainly not enough for a majority, but they actually got 1.4 more million votes in the House elections than the GOP, whom were greatly aided by gerrymandering and redistricting after the 2010 mid-terms.
By any objective measure the GOP took a shellacking last year, at least on a national level.

I'll preface this by saying that I know Mr. Goodman personally and that I like Mr. Goodman, and consider him a friendly acquaintance.
However...I'm not sure what his point here is. I get the impression he is decrying partisanship in the federal government by...writing a fairly partisan opinion piece himself?
And Tyler, yes, an act passed by both legislative houses of Congress, signed by a president who was not only elected once but also subsequently re-elected after said law was signed and was ultimately upheld by the nation's highest court DOES in fact make it valid. Just because you don't like it does not make it invalid or illegitimate. To compare the Affordable Care Act to the three fifth's compromise from over one hundred years ago is a ridiculous analogy.
Who am I denigrating here Brian?
Mr. Penfold, who I'm sure feels a horrible kind of awful right now, told police himself that a medical situation (or condition) led to the accident, did he not? That is not a supposition on my part; that is what is being reported in the local paper. I did not call Mr. Penfold any names. I am simply wondering what kind of medical condition he has that led to this horrible tragedy, and the wisdom of letting someone with whatever this medical condition may be drive in the first place.
I used to work with a young man who was not allowed to drive because he has narcolepsy. I'm very curious to see what kind of condition the unfortunate Mr. Penfold has, if the paper is allowed to report it in the first place.
My heart, thoughts and prayers go out not only to the victim and his family and friends but also Mr. Penfold. May he find peace through his faith and family in this undoubtedly difficult time.
What an awful picture.
I do have to wonder what kind of medical condition Mr. Penfold has that led to this horrible accident, and if he should ever have had a driver's license in the first place when his medical condition resulted in the death of an innocent man.
Mixed bag for me so far; I'm happy that the anti-marijuana efforts failed, not because I'm a pothead, rather a libertarian when it comes to that issue. Also happy that Sonja won, but disappointed that Rich Levy lost and that 2B passed. I hope that 2B does what it is supposed to and truly is a boon to the community, but I have my doubts.
