Jerry- my comment was in response to Scott W. regarding WSC paying it's far share. How can they pay on one hand and accept subsides on the other. Regarding the NFL ---

That's right, the league office falls under a tax code that exempts things like business leagues and trade associations.

But does that make sense? Two senators don't think so, and they've proposed a bill to change it.

Independent Main Senator Angus King and Republican Senator from Oklahoma, Tom Coburn, have crafted a bill to end the NFL's $9 billion-per-year tax-exempt status.

On "New Day" Thursday Sen. Coburn said: “This is a directed tax cut that to the league office, which means every other American pays a little bit more every year because we give the NFL league office a tax break and call them a non-profit. In fact, they’re not."

It doesn't help the NFL's cause that its commissioner makes $29 million a year.

Chris H, I certainly don't want to speak for the Chief of Police or the Sheriff of RC (or any of the officers for that matter) but who's to say what they believe in their hearts and which direction their guns will be pointed when push comes to shove. I'm sure they all value their paychecks so they must bite their tongues on these sort of matters. I think it is time for a Constitutional Convention and enough states have signed up for one, it's just that no one has pulled the trigger yet.( pun intended).
Glad to see it's not just my computer when it comes to the comment side bar and Steve M 's comments,

All these points about successful Hybrid buses (or not ) are moot because all these other cities like NY CHARGE for their bus service. If they are losing money on some new technology the can simple raise rates to make up the shortfall. Just like you have to pay for a newspaper in the real world and you have to pay to go to a concert. Just because the grant money came from the Feds as opposed to being paid for locally doesn't mean WE didn't pay for it. Which pocket did the money come from the front right pants pocket or the left rear one?

It's FREE riders should be lucky they get nice new clean buses instead of old beat up jalopies held together with bailing wire and duct tape. State of the art stuff should mean a raise in rates and when ridership decreases due to cost then the transit system will not buy state of the art stuff. Just more gov't waste.

Joe I don't want to put words in your mouth and answer for you but-----Chris --- Yes! It may come to that sooner rather then later, just look what happened down at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada. I'm not taking sides on that one just yet but it appears that there are an awful lot of pissed off people with weapons ready to stand up against the Feds. I don't think the Feds backed off I think they retreated to re-group and figure out their next move. It's beginning to look like a third world riot except the citizens won't be throwing rocks and bottles they will be armed to the teeth and spewing lead.

Jerry, I agree and you beat me to the punch so I can't add anything. Ken, Why is the Sheriff an elected position anyway? Local Police Chief's are promoted from within and the Fire Chief is not an elected office.

Well we paid Howell $270,000 to go away how much is it going to cost us for Meeks to follow in her footsteps? And I'll ask again how and when can I get a job that pays me a ton of money to leave, any employers want to step up and hire me?

Maybe the thought process should take place before they hop in the sack. Remember the 6 p's---Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Way to many kids are an after thought today when kids are having kids and they don't realize that the baby they are bringing into the world will need to be taken care off for the next 20 yrs.
