What a touching story. I just happened to be web surfing with my new laptop and this story caught my eye. I lived in Steamboat during the 80's and part of my heart is still there. Cowboy Bob must have loved living there with you caring folks and the beautiful countryside around him. In a way, he wasn't really homeless. God rest his soul and thanks to all who showed him kindness during his time there. That's a great photograph of him and you can see a lot of stories written on his face. I'm sure his spirit will be around there for some time.
Tell Loui I said Hi from Atlanta.....I used to live up there in the 80's...moved back to Atlanta when my pa got sick with cancer. Still here dealing with my ma's sickness after her stroke...I miss the old half price burger night they used to have at the Old Town Pub then...I noticed from a recent picture they painted the building grey.....too bad they did away with the great paint job they had back then. Can't believe Loui got into city politics...oh well......I guess it keeps him off the streets. Miss Steamboat still but don't miss wearing heavy boots most of the year and dodging mud holes during runoff...Time flies when you're in a coma.....yall take care....later...Hollywood Don
I remember walkin along the railroad tracks back behind the Riverbend Inn and picking up chunks of coal that had fallen off of the trains. It wasn't romantic but it kept the cabin warm. You do what you gotta do to stay warm...even move to Miami in some instances....but, too many idiots have already done that....go for the coal......HD
Julia Cameron also wrote a great book for aspiring writers called 'The Right to Write'....it gives some good tips to move you along in your writing goals....I've got the art book, too......but my problem is sitting too long in front of this pc instead of working on my art and writing....some of my writing is at my web site CarpCircles.com where I go by Moe Beers. Art supplies have gotten so expensive I figured writing would be a cheaper mode of expression. I've got some real fond memories of going to Go-fer late at night......I'm glad I've got a good video of it from when I was there in the 80's......and I hear the Hot Springs is all hoity toity these days....it must cost an arm and leg by now.....Is that great Rabbit Ears Motel sign still thar?...anyway....Happy New year to all you folks up there, hippies and straight folks alike...........rat now, I'm stuck in this Atlanta 65 degree stuff.....it's just awful....Yo friend, Hollywood
