Way to go SOROCO staff and students!! Keep it going!
So one good thing that would come of consolidation is that Hayden and SOROCO teachers/staff SHOULD receive pay increases to Steamboat's pay scale upon consolidation. Right??
Where is the comment from the Steamboat superintendent on her thoughts? Both SOROCO and Hayden's comments are here. Just curious.
I'm curious, to all those that think it is simple to just eliminate the salaries and positions of SOROCO and Hayden's superintendents and admin staff and consolidate to just one superintendent, etc do you really think the existing superintendent and staff at Steamboat will gladly just take on the extra work load for the same pay and not have to hire any additional staff to assist? Because I find that hard to believe.
I can see one benefit though, the distribution of per pupil spending would have to be equal (including the money from the fund board) throughout all the schools so that SOROCO and Hayden would benefit from that but I'm not too sure that Steamboat will be so happy with that idea.
@Scott W. as I read your comments, I get the feeling you think you know how the majority of South Routt community feels regarding this issue of combining into one school district. I believe you are misspeaking and misrepresenting a large portion of our community.
Many, not all, of the South Routt families taking their children into the Steamboat Springs School District do so mainly for convenience sake (both parents work in Steamboat and thus take their children to this school district) and there is no argument there is a much wider variety of opportunities available for their children. Having said that, a much larger portion of South Routt have made the choice that although both parents work in Steamboat they want their children attending South Routt School District. I know that our children receive a wonderful education as well. I love our district and I am not here to talk badly about any school district, for each has its own successes and issues.
I do believe that if these discussions actually do become an agenda item, then it will be discovered that the minor amount of savings that could be gained is not worth the overall community upset that will surely follow.
Really Scott? Could you not have passed on this comment?
Mollie - Thanks for spending your time in Steamboat! Other than your accident while having fun, I hope you enjoyed your trip here!
If this link does not work, just go to 9news and search for medical marijuana. It discusses how 15 doctors in Colorado account for the majority of medical marijuana prescriptions. One doctor even wrote 200 prescriptions in one day. On an 8 hour day that would have him spending only 2.6 minutes with each patient. WOW! (8 hrs x 60 min / 200 patients)
djk, so who gave you the right to sign your rant from "All of Northern Colorado". I live here in Northern Colorado and I happen to disagree with you! You see, I feel driving while your ability is impaired and drinking while carrying a weapon are pretty serious charges. You did not address these charges in your complaint, only the charge of failure to dim your headlights. So say what you please, but don't sign it on behalf of everyone. Thank you.
Our school children need and deserve to be able keep what is left of the school programs in tact. Currently, the only way to do so is to vote yes. Please don't let the misuse of previous administrations decisions hinder your decision for the current needs. If you vote no, the main people who will suffer will be the children.
