The simple fact is this. Very few murders are done with legal weapons as a whole. Gun laws are going after people who are above board, not the dirt bags. Chicago is the perfect place to look. They have the strongest gun laws in the USA, and the highest murder rate. Why? Because;" When guns are outlawed only outlaw will have guns."

When I lived in New Mexico there were more than one person I knew that I could get any kind of brand new gun. Never registered and any make or model. It was cash only, end of story. The people that sold these guns were everyday people. So the idea of having to have a background check is a joke. If you really think for a moment that more gun law will effect crime, you are wrong. Only when people have the right to have the same fire power of the criminal and government, we have fair law. For those of you who do not believe you are loosing your rights. Why don't you Google NDAA and read through that law that was past. You (we) are no longer covered by our First, Fifth or Tenth Amendments of the United States. It was past by over 90 plus Senators, and signed into LAW by our Presidents in 2012. Yet nothing on TV, or in any paper about it. So I agree. Wake up Sleepwalkers. Also remember OUR Government is the largest arms dealer in the world! One must ask, why doesn't the Government want it's people to be armed with what they sell all over the world?

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson

Kind of sums it up. We as well armed as your Government. When Government stands in the way of that, you should ask why, and get ready.

Our Supreme court has made some real bonehead choices that go against our Constitution. Just as they did when they said; Corporations are People too! Or, how about their choice to uphold the Patriot Act and the NDAA, Those take away our first, fifth and tenth Constitutional rights. Yet you'll see NOTHING in any paper about it. What a jaw drop! Read about the NDAA... better yet..... how about the efforts in Colorado to stand against the NDAA, and IT FAILED... Get ready because the conversation about the use of Government and Drones are coming soon.

What far too many do not want to embraces is this. The Constitution of this nation put in place rights for all people, but more than that Rule for Government so that it would not get out of control. The second amendment is about the right to stand against Tyranny. With the idea that our President has the right to "KILL" Americans, to spy on Americans is outrageous. Our US Government is the largest arms dealer in the world. Isn't it a little strange the things they sell all over the world you can't have here? Just as assanine as the limit of bullets in a clip.... so bring more clips. I for one as a very "liberal" person do not want Government telling me what I can do with my body, and the choices I make. I do not want government to tell me what I can do with property. Or, do I think government has the right to tell me how I have the right to protect myself of not! When the real truth is as time goes on, I am not so worried about who comes into my home. I am far more concerned about the out of control government and the demands they are making. My right to use a weapon is to also MY RIGHT to stand AGAINST my Government! Look up posse-comitatus! Read your constitution and the Federialist Papers.

There are NO rights. Look up the NDAA that was past into law over a year ago. It went through the house, and over 90 plus senators voted in favor are removal of you first amendment rights and that pretty much covers everything else. The question in my mind is this? When a (blind) public has no idea that they no longer have rights, and no way to equal the force of the military....what do you think comes next? By the way, the police, or military no longer swear to serve and protect the constitution of the United States. I believe that was changed in 2005. Wake up.

As a good liberal I don't see it the government business to tell me what I can do with my body, who I can marry, what I can grow in my garden or how much I choose to store. I do not embrace the idea that goverment can tell me what to do on my property, or what I can have to protect myself.

The United States is the LARGEST Arms Dealer in the world. Why are they selling the guns in question to everyone else.....or giving them to the Mexican Cartel? Our Drones kill more children in a few days than what we see in years. Most important a fact that IS NOT talked about. Sandy Cook and AK WAS NOT USED. It was in the trunk of a car, the children were killed with hand guns. Dont believe me do some fact checks.

Under the NDAA there are NO rights. Why? Because by removing the 1st Amendment, there are not other rights. I am amazed that NO papers ran the story of the NDAA being passed, or that very few people seem to know about it. Or, worse yet....even care. Over 90 senators voted in favor to remove these rights. It was signed into law last year. Next to no coverage was given. Could that be because most media is owned by 6 different corporation??? Who also own Washington???

Michelle Hale 4 months ago on Because of an increased demand for guns, the state is facing a seven-day backlog for background checks. Are you a gun owner, and do you plan to purchase a new gun in the near future?

The United States of America is the largest arms dealer in the world. The DRONES that come from this nation kill hundreds of children. I have to ask this to those who support gun control. Now why would a nation want to remove the very gun that are sold all around the world from the people of this nation?

I am a good liberal. I don't think government has the right to tell women what they can or cant do with their body, or who any one can marry. I don't believe the government has the right to tell any one what to do on their private property. NOR do I believe they have the right to tell me I cant have the same gun and bullets that they sell to everyone else in the world, or supply for themselves. The old fashioned saying is; Clean their own doorstep first. Lead by action not by demand.

The second amendment is for protection, and that includes the act of tyranny. The passing of the NDAA made it very clear of what OUR government thinks of ITS people. They have forgotten, THEY work for US, not us for them.

Thumbs up. What needs to be addressed in this nation is Mental Illness. Every mass murder has a twisted and damaged mind behind it. If not a gun it could be a bomb, a hammer, a knife. We need to have something in place to give people help, hope, and a hospital, not just a pill that often makes things worse.

Covington & Burling revealed a document in 1992 about what some of 614 different additives in cigarettes. Here are just a few. Acetone is a cleaning solvent and used in making meth. Cyanhydic acid was used in gas chambers in WWII. Methanol used in rocket fuel, antifreeze and solvents. Urethane and Tovene, is used in industrial solvents. Nicotine is used in Moth repellent. Arsenic is a lethal poison. Cadmium used in batteries. DDT an insecticide outlawed in the United States. Vinyl chloride used in plastic material, and of course Carbon monoxide. There is also a radioactive compound, Polonium 210, that also breaks down to radon. But it doesn't stop there. Diammonium phosphate is a fertilizer and fire retardant. Urea, nitrogen found in Urine Levulinic acid, this concentrates, and increases nicotine in cigarettes.

What is often not understood in the amount of sugar that is added to tobacco, both chewing and cigarettes. There are also flavor enhancers some of which are also poisonous. Here is a small list of these compounds. Cocoa shells, Licorice, St. John's Bread also known as carob. Prune juice concentrate, and Angelica Root (very poisonous species.) There is also Dandelion root extract. Sugars are added to produce a more mild smoke and boosting the addictive potency from the smoke. Wait! There is more. Phillip Morris Reynolds lists 158 different additives and 137 of them are flavorings, few that were ever meant to be inhaled. Bergamot oil, fenugreek extract, geranium bourbon oil, ethyl vanillin, tangerine oil, sandalwood and something called immortelle extract. Add in a pinch of cardamom, cinnamon oil, coffee, coriander, and chamomile and of course, corn syrup. You’re going to love this one. There is a compound called "civet absolute" that turns out to be a secretion from the anal gland of a civet cat. Oh but wait there is more! Castoreum a comparable anal secretion from a Siberian beaver.

These many combinations here help the efficiency of the nicotine and the binding in the brain. Cocoa is added for the aroma, but also for its impact as a bronchodilator: Cocoa contains an alkaloid theobromine which makes it easy for the lungs to receive the smoke. It doesn’t stop there. Cigarettes are wrapped in paper that has bleach and glues. Sometime even accelerants are added. There are also other compounds added to adjust the color of the ash, because of the optical connection with smoking. Some tobacco companies have added in the "contamination factor." Things like rubber bands, machine belts, lubricants, ink, glass fibers plastics and color stains. There is also bugs, and worms.

I think you have a short view Scott. Not only does Peabody pay land tax, but so do all the people who are employed there. There is a taxing of what goes out of the mine and what goes into it. The miner spend their money in this county in many ways along with land tax. I know that so many people want to hold on to the idea that the mountain and those who support it are the tax base, and that has never been true. This county has always been Oil, Gas, Coal, and once Gold. If you go to the county website you'll not even see a break out for energy (unless its changed as of late) Just looking at only property tax is very short sited.
