The Golf Committee is a joke. Remember when Hank Franks would greet you at the door and shake your hand and Wendy would show you the latest and greatest fashions to arrive in the wonderfully-stocked Pro Shop and you were made to feel special and welcome? The Golf Committee fired them. I may be wrong, so please correct me...is there a Committee for Howelsen Hill Ski Area? Howelsen Ice Arena? Brent Romick Rodeo Arena? The Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs? What is wrong with this picture?
HELLO GOLF COMMITTEE! Staxx (Yes to Staxx, No to Hank & Wendy? Remember?) is holding a "Thank You" party for the Franks this Thursday, October 29th. They are charging attendees $10 per person. Why don't you do something right for a change and sponsor the damn party!? It's a disgrace.
If you've followed the comments since the Frank's firing (yes fired!) was announced, you will see NOT ONE single solitary supporter of the Golf Committe's decision. In November, 2008, the citizens of the United States said "Enough is Enough", and "Yes We Can". I again repeat my invitation: Golf Committee? Hold an open meeting/forum of the golfers in this community. Might as well. The truth will come out evenutally!
Haymaker pass holders, punch card holders and all the casual golfers who support our public facility need to hold the Golf Committee accountable. I respectfully request the Committee answer our questions. I propose they come forward and announce an open meeting so the golfing community can finally understand the direction they are proposing to take. This is OUR course, not theirs!
Now that we've been educated, put it on the Ballot. We're smart enough to decide what's best for our community.
Many of those I've polled about this issue are not anti-growth, but they are anti-stupid. I don't know about you, but I'm not interested in leaving my home on a school night so I can listen to an infomercial. When they come on TV, I can elect to turn them off. You're hoping for a large turnout? Put it on the ballot!
What did Brosterhous and Taylor bring to the table that is going to fix what isn't broken? Could you please publish the names and emails of those who "serve" on the Golf Committee? Vanderbloemen said all six proposals were very similar from a financial standpoint and that the new contract wouldn't result in substantial cost savings for the city. So why the change? What is the real agenda of the Golf Committee? Hank and Wendy run a quality show and every pass holder and avid Haymaker golfer I know is furious with this decision. We have a first rate course with a second rate restaurant and you want to keep what's broken and fix what's not. Ridiculous. Something stinks.
