I would say buying local is great but if the mountains management wants locals to have a better attitude on the mountain as nucs put it is to lower season pass tickets for locals.
everyone should pay,, and there should be a fee, this coming from a snomobilier and and snomo skier, I havent gone to Buff pass for overcrowding problems for years, I have friends that work at powder cats and have walked the runs everyone uses with them picking up trash left behind we came out with belts, beer cans, wrappers bungy cords, ski poles I dont know about the Routt powder riders or the Friends of the backcountry but I havent heard any of those groups organizing trash pick ups post season, ( I am sure if I am wrong it'll show up shortly). The money should go first to the parking area, then to signage. If 5 bucks puts a hole in your pocket, put one less gallon in your tank... one less six pack, 2 less granola bars...
If we cant govern ourselves someone else will... that's where we are at like it or not..
I just wonder if nightwalkers friends would be so fast to come to his defense if "shooting into the dirt" the rifled slug riccochet would have gone into a neighbors house and killed a child, mother, father, dog (oops thats an animal doesnt count) thats what I find so appalling about this whole fiasco, I also agree his statements totally contradict the facts and make him sound more idiotic. it was just a bear but could have very easily been a human then what?
how about we start at the airport? how much city and county money is used there? and to who's benefit? a very small percentage of the community. also who pays for the courtesy vehicle I see driving around town it seems like quite frequently?
So tax problems... My question is when will someone look at the culpability of the county assessors who in my opinion are the long arm of this housing bubble that has reached into the yampa valley.. higher appraisals higher taxes....
Our View: Locals’ warmth could help thaw economy
