While you are at it, please help fund the Bear River Bike Park with money from Bell Helmets. We are a finalist in a national grant for a share of $100,000. We are currently in second place and have a good chance at this. We are working really hard already to fund this project and others outside of the Accommodations Tax. We already did the hard work. All it takes is a quick facebook vote.

RCR, with the help of STARS and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Little Snake Field Office, also submitted for $10,000 just yesterday through a special program the BLM is running that will benefit the back side of Emerald Mt in 2014.

If you are interested in helping with trails or cycling in general, please join us the first Monday of each month (next Monday 4/1/2013 @ 5:30 PM in Centennial Hall Room 113/114)

The Trails Committee also meets at the Natural Grocers on Lincoln on Wednesday April 3rd at 6:00 PM

Wow Steamboat 600+ votes in a day! If the community came together and voted like that for these two grants funded from money outside Steamboat, the whole community would benefit. Vote now while you are in the voting mood.

1) $5,000 for the ReTree Program by the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council 2) $30,000+ for the Bear River Bike Park by Routt County Riders, an IMBA chapter

If you have already voted, tell a friend, tell a relative, heck tell a current competitor. Someday your organization will be tied up in one of these voting grants and you will need the support of the whole Steamboat Springs community to get your project funded.

We believe the arts are an integral part of a successful and premier resort. An example of how the arts and the outdoors make such great companions. http://vimeo.com/62200647. For more info and to tour email tamara@chieftheater.com.

Our Mission- The Friends of the Chief Foundation, Inc. 501(c)3, is a not-for-profit community-based organization committed to the historic rehabilitation and revitalization of The Chief Theater in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We seek to develop this historic building into a cultural center with state-of-the-art technology, diverse programming and educational opportunities to meet the needs of a vibrant and active arts community. THE FACTS AND FUTURE: • After 3 yrs. and lots of determination, we purchased The Chief in Oct. and hired Executive Director, Tamara Beland in Nov. • The theater began hosting events in our lounge in February 2013. After needed renovations Phase I opens in April with a 150 seat multi-use venue for music of all genres, theater, comedy, dance, film, literary arts and more. We will also have a small theater and a lounge perfect for meetings and catered events. • Our range of programming will appeal to locals throughout Routt County, tourists and all ages including children’s, adults and seniors. • Our Phase II Capital Campaign will kick-off this summer allowing us to raise money to bring this dream to fruition. This endeavor includes turning this historic building into a beautiful state-of-the-art cultural and performing arts center with 475 seats, a balcony, a bar/lounge opening on to Lincoln Ave., rehearsal spaces, a gallery and more. • This will help bring Steamboat into the national view as an arts destination attracting new visitors and creating an economic driver for downtown restaurants, lodging and retail. • We will secure national touring acts, build exciting children’s and cultural programming and provide an incredible events venue and home for local arts and community organizations. We plan to host weddings, conferences, fundraisers, board meetings and more. • Combined with other dynamic entities like the Art Museum, Perry Mansfield and Strings Music Festival, a healthy arts and cultural entertainment scene will give visitors alternative ways to enjoy Steamboat with their whole family. • We are building our volunteer base to help us with providing excellent hospitality for our patrons and performers, taking care of the facility, fundraising, marketing, programming and much more. • We are creating strong alliances with local arts and community groups as well as venues throughout Colorado to bring creative and fresh events to the theater. We feel strongly that inclusive collaboration is the key to innovation and funding. • We are seeking funding through Grants, Donors, Fundraisers, Rental sales and our events.

Thank you for Sharing the Vision and Supporting the Chief.
