I am voting 'Disagree' because many local businesses are going to surpass the 60db level even during the day. How is this not going to end up with Stmbt becoming a ghost town at 9pm every night?

what are you talking about? they are increasing the allowable nighttime noise level, not decreasing it. this leaves bars with live music a little more leeway, not less. what does a business surpassing the level during the daytime have to do with anything either? there's no rule about daytime noise levels.

Who is writing these questions?
City's own data showed consistent background noise well above 60 dB. So asking if people approve of increasing allowable from well below background noise to somewhat less below background noise makes no sense from a policy standpoint.
The question makes even less sense from an answer standpoint because there is no way to know whether either "yes" or 'no' answers means the person supports attempting to enforce 60 dB. A "yes" answer could mean person thinks 60 dB is better than 55 dB thinking that allows for nightlife when it actually is a change from an unenforceable number to a pretty quite number. Or a "yes" answer could mean the person wants 60 dB to be strictly enforced (and so apparently the Yampa River and Butcherknife creek (both about 70 dB) is going to be cited for consistent noise violations).
The previous question asking whether county residents wanted to close Aloha's was also a mess. First, since there is no limitation on whom can vote, supposing that only county residents would vote is a joke. Second, since the phrase "county resident" is typically used to describe those not living in a city, in particular Steamboat, then the honest SB resident whom will be voting on that measure this Fall would not vote in that poll.

!!!!! STEAMBOAT SPRINGS NEW MARKETING PLAN !!!!
Please only right wing hypocrites that hate music and marijuana are allowed to live here and anybody with a different opinion please go away - this is a family community and we only want to promote pharmaceutical medicine along with nicotine and alcohol and we would prefer to lie to our children about pot and we hate music as well and anybody that has anything to do with promoting a good time as that is not in the best interest of this community...after all we are a resort town and don't want our guests to have any fun especially at night when you should be at home asleep
It would also be helpful if you own a wheelchair
!!! SINCERELY STEAMBOAT SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL !!!

Can everyone please keep it down to a whisper? I am trying to hear the wind blow. Dang, the river must be warned to keep it down. This is nuts, how can any business comply when they are out of compliance while they are closed and silent?

seesuki,
Well if we bury the river under culverts then that will be silence the rivers and creeks. So maybe next step for a 60 dB downtown is to bury the river and creeks. Think of all the additional parking spots and room for bike lanes that would create for downtown!
