Regardless of the faster pace of work being done and the good weather that allowed it , the simple fact that 11th, 12th and 13th streets were not closed made this an entirely different scenario for those of us on the west side. In the spring, those of us on the west were suffering through hour long commutes and the east siders were giving us no sympathy. There are so many more options for getting to downtown from the east side that this whole project affected the east siders much less severely. Even with construction happening mostly on the east side, there was always a way to avoid it or get around the mess.
