The waters of the Elk River near the confluence with the Yampa overrun its banks flooding a wetland area west of Steamboat Springs. However, Routt County of Emergency Management director, Bob Struble said that both the Yampa and Elk rivers are doing a good job of handling spring runoff. On Tuesday both rivers were below flood stage. Struble is optimistic the flooding will be isolated and that private structures will not be threatens, but added that he will have to wait and see what the next few days bring.
