Photo retrospective: 25 Years of the Steamboat Today

Photo detail

From a distance, western salsify looks like a giant puff ball, but get a little closer, and the weed takes on a more cosmic appearance. The weed, commonly referred to as goat’s beard, can be found around Steamboat hayfields. This photograph was taken by John F. Russell and appeared in the July 14, 2007, Steamboat Today.
