Routt County in photos: Sept. 30, 2013

Photo detail

Local artist Kim Keith created "Bent Doves Flying," an elevated art installation containing 7,000 origami doves hanging from the ceiling at the Yampa Valley Medical Center, to help Advocates Building Peaceful Communities. The doves, which were folded by community members, business owners and survivors, represent the more than 7,000 survivors who have been assisted by Advocates the past 30 years. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the local Advocates organization is celebrating 30 years of service to the community. The Yampa Valley Medical Center will be hosting a reception honoring Advocates and the art installation from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday with refreshments.
