The Steamboat Springs City Council soon will decide whether to accept the lodging tax committee's recommendation to spend 90 percent of the tax revenue on trails projects for the next decade. Some are advocating for the funds to be shared with other proposals, but proponents of the trails projects say sharing the wealth could hamper their plans, including costly extensions to the Yampa River Core Trail. It's May in Colorado, but on Monday motorists headed up Rabbit Ears Pass could have mistaken it for winter. Drivers were greeted by wet roads and snow as a spring storm moved through the area.
