Soda Creek Elementary School's Joy Clark was all smiles Wednesday after Maureen Moore presented her with a Peabody Energy Leader in Education award and $1,000 for her compassion and commitment to students. As the lead custodian for more than 12 years, Clark takes great pride in her school and continually seeks new ways to improve the learning environment for teachers and students, according to a news release. The Leader in Education program rewards dedicated education professionals who inspire and motivate youths to succeed. Award recipients are selected throughout the school year by a committee of educators and business leaders.

Happy to see a great person honored. I've known Joy for 32 years and blessed to have met her. She is the most honest person I know with a level of integrity that is hard to find. I know the school is as proud of her as she is of the school. She shares special events at Soda Creek Elementary with pride for family and friends. Steamboat Springs....You are lucky to have her!
