Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club skier Jordi Floyd competes at the cross-country Junior Nationals in Fairbanks, Alaska. The event wrapped up Saturday with several Steamboat Springs skiers notching top finishes. Competing in a classic mass start race, Lucy Newman led Steamboat with an eighth-place finish in the girls OJ division. Gretchen Burkholder was eighth in the girls J1 division, Madison Keeffe was 33rd, Cara Piske was 38th, Dori McNeil was 56th and Margaret O’Connell was 62nd. Evan Weinman was 29th in the boys J1 division and Tanner Heil was 56th. In the girls J2 division, Jordi Floyd was 13th, Katie Brodie was 18th, Abbe Habermehl was 31st and Anna Burkholder was 34th. Steamboat Springs Swim Team tryouts are from 3:45 to 6 p.m. March 28 and 29 at Old Town Hot Springs. An additional tryout session will be in mid-April. Beginning June 17, practices are from 4 to 6 p.m. on weekdays as well as Saturday mornings. The program is for swimmers ages 6 to 18 and of all abilities.
