An artist rendering included in the Steamboat Springs Planning Commission's agenda for Aug. 8 shows what Steamboat Ski Area would look like at night with the new lights.

If purchased before Sept. 30, Steamboat Ski Area full season pass holders can enjoy night skiing this upcoming season for $39. The price for a one-night ticket purchased at the window is $29, or $20 purchased seven-plus days in advance.
Most of the 14 people who spoke to the council at Tuesday's meeting embraced the idea and said it has the potential to further revitalize a base area that seems deserted after dark.
Mark Booth thought the base of the Steamboat Ski Area would be the perfect place to live full time during his retirement. But a plan to illuminate 1,000 vertical feet of the lower mountain for night skiing has Booth less enthusiastic about his move to Steamboat.
The lights would illuminate trails Sitz, See Me, See Ya, Vogue and Stampede as well as the Lil' Rodeo Terrain Park. The pricing of the new amenity hasn't been finalized.
