Members of the Steamboat Springs Teen Council on Saturday were awarded $5,000 for their health project as part of the first-place prize in the Ready Set Action contest, according to a news release. The contest challenges youth councils to propose a project that improves the health of their community. The Teen Council project would create more alcohol- and drug-free social and recreational activities for youths and also promote increased physical activity. The award money will help fund the project, which includes building an area for slack-lining and the introduction of high school coed recreation leagues. More information about the project is available in the group’s contest entry video at www.bit.ly/15gdKeg. Pictured, from left, are Laura Barron, Thania Nuñez and Danny Kramer.
