Members of the Steamboat Springs Teen Council on Saturday were awarded $5,000 for their health project as part of the first-place prize in the Ready Set Action contest, according to a news release. The contest challenges youth councils to propose a project that improves the health of their community. The Teen Council project would create more alcohol- and drug-free social and recreational activities for youths and also promote increased physical activity. The award money will help fund the project, which includes building an area for slack-lining and the introduction of high school coed recreation leagues. More information about the project is available in the group’s contest entry video at Pictured, from left, are Laura Barron, Thania Nuñez and Danny Kramer.
