Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) stares down a monstrous auroch in “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” The film, one of the smaller releases of the 2012 summer movie season, is about a 6-year-old girl who tries to make sense of her life after the island on which she lives is flooded by a storm.
