The view of Mount Werner on Monday afternoon showed a white band of snow stretching from Thunderhead down Heavenly Daze to the lower part of the mountain at Steamboat Ski Area. Officials are hoping for several more days of cold temperatures to make snow. Officials also announced that four trails off the Christie Peak Express will be open for Wednesday's Scholarship Day including Sitz, Vogue, Stampede and Jess' Cut-Off as well as the Desperado learning area.

Ski area officials said Monday that with continued snowmaking they will work toward opening a portion of Heavenly Daze to skiers’ right along with the gondola over the weekend. As for Wednesday's Scholarship Day, tickets will be $20, and lift access will serve only a handful of trails.
