Gore Canyon is the steepest section of the Colorado River, and it's only about an hour from Steamboat. Our large group of eleven paddled the four miles of flatwater from Kremmling to enter the canyon for five miles of whitewater. Water is still flowing on the Colorado. Gore Canyon is Class IV/V, but there are many options below this that are good for beginners and intermediates. From Pumphouse all the way to Burns, there are many put-in and take-out options. Being on the water is a great place to be during these hot summer days. This photo is looking down the river from Gore Rapid. Submitted by: Matt Helm
