The Routt County Sheriff's Office confirmed that one person was killed Saturday afternoon when the Jeep she was driving down U.S. Highway 40 on Rabbit Ears Pass rolled off an embankment. The passenger of the car, a male in his 40s, was in good condition and climbed up the 100 feet to the road, according to Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue Capt. Travis Wilkinson. Colorado State Patrol will be investigating the crash. Photo by Matt Stensland

A couple days of rain haven’t done much to raise the tides for Yampa River anglers. Instead, they’ve been casting into plenty of other area bodies of water, including the Elk River. Much of that river is private and leased to local guide shops. A long section near the Mad Creek trailhead, however, is open to public fishing. Larry Reichenberger / Courtesy
