Rich Tucciarone rolls around a curve near the end of Saturday's Keep Emerald a Gem race at Steamboat Springs' Emerald Mountain. The event drew about 45 people, down from last year's total, according to event organizer Walter Magill. The purpose was to raise funds for groups that use the mountain, though Magill said this year's event ended up a break-even affair and was a bit of a disappointment for an event that had intended to bridge the gap between the trail network's running and cycling users. Magill didn't let his disappointment get him down as he led the way through an upbeat awards ceremony. "Look for us again next year," he called to the gathered racers. "We will be back. We have enough extra T-shirts."
