The city of Steamboat Springs is looking for three volunteers to help the City Council decide what to do with a large pot of unspent lodging tax money that has been accruing for several years.
The Steamboat Springs CIty Council could soon invite the public to submit their ideas for how to best spend hundreds of thousands of excess lodging tax dollars to draw more visitors to town.
In a meeting where nearly every seat in Centennial Hall was taken by a community member eager to weigh in on the future of the tax, the council was torn about the lodging tax committee's recommendation to devote 90 percent of the tax to the Trails Alliance for the next decade.
