Mary O'Connell races Jan. 4 at the U.S. Cross Country Championships in Soldier Hollow, Utah. On Thursday, O'Connell, who is a freshman at Dartmouth, placed second in the women’s 5-kilometer classic race at the NCAA Skiing Championships at the Rikert Nordic Center in Middlebury, Vt.
