Emergency responders work at the scene of a crash that occurred at about 7 p.m. Thursday. According to Steamboat Springs Police Sgt. Jeff Wilson, a Jeep Cherokee driven by a female was going down Hilltop Parkway at an estimated 30 to 35 mph when it lost control on the icy road. Five pedestrians visiting from out of state were walking the same direction as the Cherokee, and three of them were hit by the car. Two of the people hit, both females, were taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center with injuries not thought to be life threatening. The driver of the Cherokee, whose name was not available, was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions. Wilson said the crash served as a good reminder for drivers to slow down in icy conditions and for pedestrians to walk against traffic.
