A Howard 500 soars past the Steamboat Springs Airport on Wednesday on its way back home to Minnesota. The owner flew the plane, which is the only one in the United States and one of two in the world, into Yampa Valley Regional Airport earlier this week. Howard Aero Inc. built 17 of the airplanes in the 1950 and 1960s. The aircraft could accommodate 10 to 14 passengers and was used as an executive aircraft by corporations and private owners who could afford to buy and operate them.
